OOC: Telgos' familiar was flying high overhead (see my previous post) so he would have noticed them coming from afar. I'll backtrack if you tell me it's not ok.

I meant to look up Familiars more this weekend, but forgot completely about it until you just reminded me. The thing I needed to find out was how much information the familiar can pass along. If I remember I'll look it up tonight.

OOC - Familiar rules Show
Side note: a familiar acting as scout is definitely mentioned as a possibility.

A familiar is a spirit that accompanies you as your friend and ally. It's not a real creature, and it doesn't need to eat or breathe. The most common type is a creature familiar - a spirit that takes the form of a little animal or monster. Many consider a familiar and its master to be one and the same, and some familiars do act as mere extensions of their masters' wills. However, most familiars grow personalities all their own and undertake the commands of their masters with individuality and, sometimes, attitude. All familiars have some amount of arcane knowledge.

[...]

Communication: You and your familiar can speak to one another in a special arcane language. Other creatures hear only gibberish from you, and grunts and squeaks from your familiar. Your familiar doesn't understand other languages, but can parrot backwhat it hears, allowing you to understand anything it repeats back to you in a language you know.

The familiar getting a better view is able to distinguish the twenty men, sixteen skeletons, and twelve dwarf zombies as they gather from different places in the northern part of the city.

Failin still waits on the ridge with his cart, which will outrun any horse, unless he's left. Or you can try to sneak around the army and stay in the city eventually being found. Or you can go walk up to their frontline. Or something else. What are you guys going to do.

Telgos has passed on the numbers involved to his companions.
"Very well, let's withdraw for now."

"Oh joy," Azollian replies upon hearing of the approaching horde, "More company."

As he replaces his spectacles, his face briefly brightens. "Maybe we're taking this the wrong way. After our little performance, maybe they're all coming to surrender."

Jargressh smiles as he discovers the journal.  Well this should shed some more light on this whole affair.  He grabs the book and gloves and stuffs them in his pack.  The dice and money he throws into his small sack hanging on his pouch.  He starts to get ready to overturn more of the encampment when he hears the wings of Telgo's falcon approaching.  He allows the falcon to land on his arm and realizes their may be trouble brewing.

Okay time to get back..

It is then that he hears the tromping of many boots and the shuffling of the undead.   He spies the robed man jump from the building ruins and pointing back to the battle site....

Definitely time to leave!  He hides among the tents and slips his way among the outskirts of the ruins back to his comrades.

Well it is time to abandon this place for now, shall we?  I have something that may assist us.  He motions to his pack.  But we need time to browse through it!  Let's make haste!!

Packing up his banner, Candle grabs his bow, and waits to follow the group back to the wagon.
Through the ages, many would wonder "Does art imitate life or does life imitate art?"
I wonder "Does the art of discourse on the internet imitate the art of discourse in life or does the art of discourse in life imitate the art of discourse on the internet?"

I'm assuming you guys leave the sun rod (otherwise they'll see you leaving it puts off a very large glow :P )

You make your way back to Failin. He is still on the ridge waiting for your return. Did ya find what ya wanted? Saw the fight. Touch and go eh? We sticking around. Or you got somewhere to go?

It is not long after you reach Failin that you see the army sweep through the camp and the area where the fight took place. When they find no one groups are split off and they start searching the ruins. A few scan the immediate area. But one stands out amongst all the others. He is tall and thin, wrinkles cover his head and hand his skin looks as though it is two sizes too big. The sun rod reflects of his deathly white skin. His bald head is marred by a scar that runs from the corner of one of his eyes back past a pointed ear. He wears an ornate  hooded robe.

His head doesn't turn, surveying the damage like the others.  The man just stands there staring off in your direction almost directly at the ridge where you gather. If he sees you, he hasn't given any indication. He doesn't direct a group to search toward you, he remains silent the whole time. While officiers yell and organize the search he stands there staring.

There is no immediate threat. What do you guys want to do? Stay where you are, travel off in a direction, charge headlong into the army, or something else?

Who ever is going to study the journal needs to make a perception check.

Rathan grinds his teeth as he watches the Karrnathi soldiers disperse. "Filth," he mutters from his crouched position next to the others, "Even this blasted place doesn't deserve to be occupied." He stands and turns to the others with a slightly expectant expression. "We need to get past them. Even if we don't confront them here, the task that Lady Elaydren put to us is on the other side of that camp. Let's use this darkness to get to the Rose Quarry. I can get past in the form of a beast and the rest will just have to be silent."

Do we have resources to help Verys and others who might have trouble with Stealth checks?
