Kanis threw away game 2. When he had hell's thunder and searing blaze in hand vs. a 6/6 KotR. He should have swung with Thunder. If LSV blacks he blazes away the Knight and drops LSV to 2, if LSV takes, its GG.

He didn't have the landfall for the Searing Blaze, otherwise he definitely would have won that one.

He needed a land for Blaze to 3, AND Knight cant block fliers.

Nah.
Unearth Hellspark -> Either LSV cracks for path or blocks, either way he goes to 1. Searing blaze does 1 damage without the landfall!
