Star Wars FATE RPG
A long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away..... heroes developed a fate.
The FATE system is an open gaming license product that you can get free online. What a shocking idea, but how cool for RPG fans. Evil Hat Productions first put out the FATE system, which means 'Fantastic Adventures in Tabletop Entertainment' in 2003; it was written by Fred Hicks and Robert Donoghue.
The system of play is very different to d20, Saga or D6. You can use props and miniatures if you like, but you don't need them. You will only need one type of dice, a fudge dice or D6. The player is encouraged to affect and provided ideas to the game-master about what will happen during the adventure. It is a character driven system where success and failure are encouraged, whatever makes the game fun. There is no real leveling up process, more an alteration of your character sheet as your characters actions affect the story and develops over time (this is called advancement, but feels more like retraining). The general approach to play is if you can think of it, you can do it. FATE is so flexible that it can fit any type of game you could ever want. I've played Bulldogs another FATE system and it's as complex or simple as you want it to be. It might take a little getting used too, but it's still an amazing system of play.
Luke Martinez in 2011 release a fan made Star Wars FATE RPG adaption for free. That word 'free' keeps popping up. You can get a copy of the PDF from the link below. So save the galaxy from the Sith, Empire or whatever villian that takes your fancy. Your fate is what you make of it.
