'Three simple words formed the foundation of Loric's idealistic and moralistic outlook on life. Inspired by the knights who strode through his village, Loric felt an inner stirring when their impressive shields and weapons glistened in the sunlight. In later years, he would learn they were marked with the symbol of Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon. As a child, Loric's life was free of worry, as his father tended to the fields and his mother worked the needle, making clothes for the people of the town.'
'In his teenage years the darkness came, a horde of unclean creatures, which came swift and with no mercy upon his village. The knights, despite their superior training and equipment, were pushed back and the town was raised to the ground. His father was slain in the initial attack, his mother, lost in the battle. Taken in by the company's commander, Eidrath Sunborn, Loric was taught in the arts of war.'
'On one spring eve, the company fell under attack as they made camp. Eidrath was caught unaware, and outnumbered. Spear and wicked knives pierced through his armor and his golden hilted sword dropped to the ground. Loric, charging in with his fellow knights, fought off the vile creatures. Turning to his fallen comrade, Loric held the mortally wounded elf in his arms. Pleading to Bahamut to take his life instead of his beloved commander, Loric was filled with the light of Bahamut, instinctively raising his arms towards the heavens. Pressing his palms against the commander's grave wound, whispers of shock and awe rose throughout the camp. Eidrath was healed. No longer a knight, Loric put down his blade, and took up shield and mace, as a cleric in Bahamut's name.'
'Now many years on, and in his elder years, Loric no longer seeks battle, but instead spreads the good word of the Platinum Dragon, aiding those he comes across in his travels.'
