Out-of-character:

As far as I could tell, Ankarv's not really our ally right now as he's possessed by this other fellow (name starts with G... ). So, knock him out, then figure out how to end that possession seems like a good course of action.

I've already had to come up with reasons of why I consider Mandylion, the rest of the party and Mirage allies. Throw me a bone here. If you want me to consider him an ally, can't he say/do something to show what side I should consider him on?

In-character:

Do has no in-game knowledge of any deals made with Tiamat (ooc: do you actually consider her bound by a deal she didn't make ???), or of the shop-owner, or the importance of the ape or Ankarv.

As far as she knows, the ape is a monster who for some reason of his own decided to force a spellbook into her hands that somehow lets her cast rituals faster than usual and has taken to following her around. (Is she even aware that she can command it?)

If Ankarv says something about helping, or shows that he's helping, or somebody else points out that he's an ally, she doesn't have any problems considering him to be on their side. (Like Mirage, who's attacking the destrachan.)

She also has no idea that the book's that important, or that it'll disappear if the ape dies.

Mechanically:

The ape's instinctive action is to close with an enemy. As there's no enemy around he can detect (afiak), I figure it would just stay where it is. I'd also think that if it can actually die (and isn't just unsummoned when it hits 0hp), it would flee and hide if injured too badly. But that's your decision.

btw, can't Octavia control it?
