Dr. Bill stops when he sees the ointment and knows that it might be what they're seeking. However, at 13K for something that only provides 1 cure/day, it might be too much for their limited budget... Of course that depends on how many people they have to heal... The scrolls and materials are much cheaper and once he learns the ritual, he can heal a lot more people in a shorter time...
He's a bit surprised by the elf's behavior and looks at his companions to gauge their thoughts on why the elf's responding this way. After a moment, he says to the elf, "Yes, it's a cure for a disease, but tell us about this outbreak you refer to. I want to make sure we're talking about the same disease..." He explains some of the basics of what he learned about the disease and the cure, and compares it to what the elf says. He also asks for a scroll of remove affliction and some associated salves to use it on other patients once he learns the ritual.

"Yes, those scrolls which was meant to to deal with the outbreak!" he hesitated, looking at the customers then said, "The owner of this shop, who isn't here now, ordered half dozen of them but I wasn't here the day they was supposed to arrived. The owner was here but when I came in the next day, the scrolls either hasn't arrived or gone. I didn't think much of that at first until the customer who wanted them; a deva who live close by, came in to pick one of the scrolls up. I told him he had to talk to Gurora the owner who was supposed to be in that morning with me but wasn't and hasn't been in the shop since."
His suddenly became sad saying "Also since that day I have visited two friends of friends whom both has been in a dispute with those cultists and they both soon afterwards start behaving with uncontrollable violence in a manner that they must be tied down."
Then the elf look eye to eye with Dr. John while continuing explaining "Also from the way that deva, who order the scroll and Gurora was speaking about when he describe the problems his friend was suffering from, its look as the cure on the scrolls is what I need for my friends and more than likely is the same illness you describing."
Then the sadness return to the elf's face replacing the stern seriousness that was there before that. The elf nearly lowered his eyes and his voice but held himself steady as address his visitors.
He said "Its been now four days since those scrolls are suppose to been here and that deva has been here every morning looking for his order.
Gurora coming and going always been erratic since she always helping others at a moment's notice with more simple illnesses, so are mine's coming and going but there are certain days she always here and today is that day and now you guys coming in here to place an order for those same scrolls that are missng or late is making me feared the worst."
He stop and start looking around the shop and walked over to the ointment Dr. John was looking at thru the glass counter and then turned to Dr. John and suggested "Gurora did tell me that the scrolls was meant for something those cultist has done to a friend of the deva but Gurora wasn't sure what was the right ingredients to use to make the cure. The scrolls was going to tell her everything."
The elf then pause and said, "Gurora is pretty wise from her many years of life and since she is one of the most respected orc's elders in Sharn I doubt if the cultist would tangle with her. But I on the otherhand is a surprise as her apprentice taking that I came to her as a muse but then I has already had some knowledge of botany. I also grew and learned under her tutlege to know her well enough to stake her word in her absence especially in these type of scenarios and cases. So, I make a deal with you, if you know the ingredients to the cure that are on the scroll then tell me that.
We have in this store more herbs and all sorts of prepare mixtures for salves and ointments you will ever find under a single roof outside the central district as well as all the right instruments to perform any ritual upstairs also. I will do all this for you if you can assist me relieve myself of the worries I carrying for my friends."

Besides all the potent leafs and herbs well kept in their containers and others items (check on the encounter thread for other items' inventory,) the shop assistant also and most definite showing arcana prowess that resonates like some kind of shamanic bard.

The bartender told Dr.John:
the old elf assistant working at the shop with her is also a too quick one and I know his way is to be no next." The bartender then softly cleared his throat.
"If you wise, you will visit the restaurant down the street on this road. You will see its outside seating area is really behind the shop and they buy all their spices from the tea shop and probably has the shop's door.
The restaurant's owner is good business for the shop and the shop's assistant's good friends work at the restaurant.
(and Dr. John must have told you or you wouldn't be at the restaurant)
The waitress respond to each customer at the table with quick questions smiling all the way. "I'm assuming fertilized water means a green tea blend? and you also like a plain tea? Am I correct? The owner is in the kitchen, should I send her out to answer your questions?"
