Well like the title says I'm a totally new player to DnD. I looked around my town for people to play with and there was nothing. Then I discovered play by post. Any groups forming that wouldn't mind teaching a newbie?

Welcome! Keep an eye on this forum, and maybe here as well: community.wizards.com/realadventures/go/...Have a look through some of the previous threads here and there, and see if any still need players, and keep an eye on this recruitment forum and the setup zone, so you wont miss new ones.

Since new players have been looking for games here and elsewhere for a while, I went ahead and am starting recruiting for a new low level game where I will be looking mostly for players new to play-by-post using a good published adventure. You can find it here in the Recruitment Forum

Keep an eye here and on Real Adventures. If you're looking for 4E, EDTA's game looks interesting and VoyRager often has spots, I notice. If you're looking for 3E there doesn't seem to be so much atm, though I might be able to squeeze an extra player in my game shortly (we've just started). There's also some Pathfinder and the like which goes on occasionally if that's more your cup of tea.
