Abath'lor

The lengthening shadows give the rocks and gnarled trees a sinister appearance as the wagon rumbles along the weed-ridden track. Looking at the sky, the driver spits over his shoulder and turns to you.

"Best stop fer the night" he grumbles.

As the wagon pulls in and you begin to make camp, a chill wind blows from the north, making you shiver. You busy yourself with your tasks, hoping that tonight will be as uneventful as the last.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With nowhere to go and little to do, your band of misfits signed on as caravan guards for the eccentric businessman Ebalom Dwit, ferrying luxury goods from the dwarven town Tornhold to the city of Abath'lor. Dwit's choice to send his goods through the badlands instead of down the river should make him a healthy profit - if the caravan isn't raided by the kobolds who have active in the region. That's where you come in.

The party consists of the surly driver, one Derrick Cains, and five guards. Gran-Magtoo (ArlimOfTheSpellguard), an ugly but imposing Half-Orc Barbarian was hired almost instantly thanks to his huge muscles and even larger greatsword. A Dragonborn Duskling Dragonfire Adept known as Hekahala (Thiotes) is perhaps the most unusual member of the group, though the wizard Morlass Cordanno (Carnasus) comes a close second with his talking pet raven. Andromeda (Blanket_Thunder), a Wild Elf Favoured Soul of Eilistraee would have completed the group, if the Bard and trickster known as Antaladus Fox hadn't run up at the last minute, begging to come along. The driver seemed ready to leave him behind, but Fox eventually persuaded him, bringing the number of guards up to five.

You are now about a day from the end of the foothills, after which it should be a short and uneventful journey to Abath'lor and the 100 gold each Dwit has promised you. You have a bad feeling, however, that something is going to crop up...

With the wind blowing so cold, Hekahala is once again glad she knows how to kindle her inner fire.

After having been confined in the settlement with nothing to do and noone to talk to for a month she had been starting to go mad. This wasn't exactly the company she had been looking for, but she had a purpose and they were walking through fresh air.

She stands still to take a careful look around them before making camp, then helps clearing a space with swift movements.

Again she stays still for a second looking around.

I find this waiting for an attack unbearable, it givez me some new rezpect for my own prey. she mutters with a slight lisp.

Magtoo doesn't adjust the bear skin cloak that drapes over his shoullder when yet another chill wind blows. He had been used to frigid landscapes, and the anticipation of an attack was also something native to his experiences.

In the presence of new company, Magtoo had always been a quite and unsocial companion. Now, he was even more so while he was surrounded by others of races foreign to him, and these folk appeared to have pasts of their own.

At the mention of prey, Magtoo looks towards his companions for the first time as if about to add input, but settles for a disapproving look at the strangely hued woman, obviously of strength much less than that of the tribal warrior, who claimed to be a hunter.

The half-drow, wild elf draws her arms close. She lowers the cowl of her hood, and buttons the clasps of her cloak. Andromeda looks to the Half-Orc, then the Dragonfire Adept, and smirks. She stands, and sets up her tent, not really talking to anyone. She turns and starts to make the fire pit. "Does anyone have any flint and tender?" she inquires in a voice thick with song and dance.

“All right, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man whose gonna burn your house down - with the lemons!” (Portal 2)

Instead of answering, Hekahala simply takes a breath, then cowers over the fireplace, breathing a bright stream of fire onto it. She waits absolutely still for a second more, then, pleased with the results she turns back to her place again.

Zere you go.

Andromeda looks to the woman. "Thanks," is all she offers. Being a priestess, she is uesd to magic, but not dragon-magic. She smiles slightly, and offers to help anyone that needs it. "If anyone needs any help, let me know. It is a creed of my religion to ask."

Doez that now mean you would like to help, or that you do not like it, but must do it to pleaze your god?

Andromeda grins slightly, needing the intellectual challenge. "If my action does not change because of my reasons, then, therefore, do any of the reasons matter?" She maintains her stoic expression. The kind-hearted half-drow would be happy to help anyone, but for the sake of debate, she keeps that little tid-bit of information safley tucked away,

They matter to me, it is bad mannerz to force people unnecessarily, even if it is by proxy.

She thinks a second more, then continues

But even zo, i guess my request is not zo unreasonable. Zee i have theze new scales on my back, and they're itching horribly where i cannot reach. Would you mind zcratching?

She had nearly bit here tongue at that last word again - damn new forked tongue, it made speaking so hard.

Andromeda's face immediately changes from comdedic stoicism to avid blankness. "Why don't you use that fire-breath of yours to warm a pad to place on the itch. My help is not neccissary." She notices the near-tongue-bite and smiles. She greatly exaggerates ther other female's lisp. "What iz ze matter? Doez a dragon-god have your tongue?" She grins wildly, and rubs her hands on her arms, warming by the fire. "The name is Andromeda. No Surneame. Just Andromeda of Eilistraee. I don't think we had the pleasure of meeting on the way here."
