At first Nerris cannot find anything. Frustrated, she spends a lot of time searching fruitlessly. Meanwhile you hear more commotion as the Templar(s) get closer.
Then, she has an idea... Remembering all the foaming that the Dwarf was doing, she decides to open his mouth. There she finds a tongue that has been completely blackened. In fact, it is not just 'darkened', but as black as obsidian.

"Look at this!" she says sharing her discovery with the rest of the group.

You then all wonder what could have caused this unnatural colloration.

The bard took a look at the dwarf's tongue and kneeled down and lightly sniffed to confirm his suspicions of the cause of the blackened tongue.  One did not live and thrive in Raam let alone on it's streets without learning some of the shadier aspects of life.   Bits of knowledge of a great many things usually assured that one had a fighting chance against the myriad of ways that death could come at you.

Aldalec let his hands carefully roam over the body looking for signs of how the effect came to be at the same time he was liberating the cooling body of anything of use or worth to him and his companions.

The first thing that jumps at Aldalec is that he clearly recognizes the effects of some drug overdose: the foaming at the mouth, the hyper ventilation -to say the least-, he also had heard of some drugs that could make you completely insensitive to anything... just before you die from them, but he had never heard of one that would drive people crazy and send you on a rampage.
Now what's with the black tongue again? Ah yes! Zarneeka.

"Well, we have a case of a bad drug overdose here my friends. But the black tongue, that's a side effect of Zarneeka... a very mild drug, named after the plant it's from, and that soothes pain. It can be bought cheap, and can given even to babies when they are teething. In fact it's so mild that many wonder if it does anything at all"

Then Aldalec thinks about it some more.

Hummm, but Zarneeka can also be used as a component to make other drugs, more potent ones, though I don't know which.

Before the Templars get here, maybe someone else heard or saw something...

"Well, we have a case of a bad drug overdose here my friends"

Sand's displeasure grows upon hearing that drugs had to do with the crazy dwarf's condition.  Glaring at the crowd he call out "Who else saw the hooded drug dealer?  Speak up now!"

A voice shouts from behind the second row, but you can't tell who it is. Maybe it is someone who is afraid of retaliation. "Saw dah hooded un' go tah 'em Warrens! Herd'im say da name 'Kemu', when talkin' to dah kingdamn Dwarf!"
But before you can make out who was speaking the crowd makes way for a plumpy Templar wearing the traditional, feared and hated black cassock, except garnished with a lot of extra food stains. You hear a voice whisper to his neighbor "Oh boy, it's that idiot Gourdon again, someone's getting booked no matter what! He's too lazy to keep an investigation open..."
But you see that Gourdon is well accompanied. Four impressive Half-Giants, equipped with good quality hide armor and well kept obsidian great axes.
"Sooo what have we here? A butchered Dwarf, which a few arrows in him, blood all over the place and on the weapons of these three" pointing at Nerris, Sand and Fiona "A Thri-Kreen with a bow and arrows that match those planted in the body of the victim". Then looking at Aladalec still bent over the body "And this one robbing the body. I think this is going to be an easy case solve!"

Insight everybody Show
You figure that you would not stand a chance in a fight against those four Half-Giants and, as plump as Gourdon is, he did not get to his rank by chance and likely can wield decent spells. Your best bet is to talk your way out of trouble.

Skill Challenge: A Zealous Templar Show
Goal: Avoid getting booked by Gourdon the Templar.

Description:
This is a round based skill challenge.
Everybody has to act exactly once per turn unless they spend an AP to do an extra action in the same round.
A failed roll will mean -2 to next roll.
A failed roll by more than 4 means a skill challenge failure and jail time (do not collect 200gp).

Successes: 0/6
Failures: 0/3

Modifiers: None

Primary Skills
These skills bring successes or failures in the skill challenge

Streetwise (DC16, 2 uses) You use the crowd around you as a witness to what happened. If you fail once, you do not get a second roll, as the crowd is too afraid to say anything.
Diplomacy (DC 14, 3 uses) You try to calm the Templar and sweet talk him into reason.
Religion (DC 14, 1 use) You recognize the Templar’s medium-but-better-than-low rank and flatter him.
Intimidate (DC 16, 1 use) You make the templar understand that he would be messing with the wrong group of adventurers.

Secondary Skills
A success or failure in a secondary skill do not contribute towards the skill challenge’s totals, but produce bonuses

Athletics (DC 14, usable only once) You 'flex your muscles', display your weapons in the background, trying to lend support to whoever is making an argument.
Success: +2 to next Intimidate roll
Failure: -2 to next Intimidate roll

Fiona's fury rises to the surface, and she turns to cast a baleful eye on the templar.  "Now just a minute here!  We were minding our own business and doing some shopping when this pile of kank dung charged us out of no where and started swinging!  If he's dead, it's out of self defense."

The half-giantess stands to her full height and slings her maul lazily up on her shoulder so it would be in easy position to start bashing heads if the need arose again.

Gourdon seems more than irritated by Fiona's answer "Don't you dare challenge me!"

Then he adds nonchalantly "Guards, seize the lot of them" as he points a lazy finger, as if wielding power and giving orders was the most boring and casual thing for him. "Seems like we have ourselves a nice set of guilty folks, bloody weapons and all, caught red handed!"
When the Half-Giants move in, you know you don't stand a chance, especially considering you are still tired from your fight with the freak dwarf. T'Chai is uttrely confused about the scene and does not understand why his clutch doesn't fight, but Aldalec nods at him and whispers "better live now and fight another day, we can prove our innocence"
You reluctantly surrender your weapons and the guards guide you towards Gordun's office, which happens to have three cells, and only one available. After a bit of scuffle involving Fiona, you are brutally pushed in. Once inside, you realize that it's barely big enough to contain the five of you sitting down. The wooden door locks behind you and you find yourselves trapped in what feels like a brik oven...

In the confines of the cell, you have time to go over the events. You were attacked by a raging dwarf, whose behavior was likely the result of an overdose. His tongue was black, the typical coloring left after the use of Zarneeka, a mild pain-reducing drug, but which could be used used as ingredients for more potent drugs. Before the scene erupted, the Dwarf was talking to a hooded figure in rags, who left to the Warrens and and used the name Kemu. The dwarf's last words were "But you said you would have more!" or something like that.

Well that's a miss by more than 4... so the challenge is failed and Gourdon got himself a nice group of seemingly guilty folks

Fiona swings the maul at the biggest brute near her, but he dodges and wrests it from her grip.  Her rage won't be stiffled, however, and she jumps on the big guy, teeth sinking into the hand that grasps her maul.  He grabs her hair and slings her off of him, but she gets right back up and charges, knee firmly planting in his groin.

As the other three move in to round the others up, Fiona screams, "RUN!!  T'Chai, Sand, get out of here!"  It's too late, however, and the half-giant that Fiona had been fighting clocks her in the temple with the handle of her own maul.  The half-giantess goes down hard, and he picks her up and slings her across his shoulders as they head for the jail.

Once inside, Fiona comes to propped in the corner of the cramped cell.  She stares sullenly at the ground and doesn't participate in the on-going discussion.  For all intents and purposes, it looks as though she's given up and doesn't want to fight anymore.

Shooting many a nasty glare at the half-giantess, Nerris has little positive to contribute.  You've noticed a wild light begin to glimmer in her eyes; it seems she is not doing well in such cramped confines.

Still ticked off, Sand was about to give the guards a mouthfull when Fiona goes off anoying Gourdon.  Sand sighs when the half giants surround the group and demand their weapons.  Knowing that this was not a fight he wanted to get into he reluctantly hands over his swords.

Once inside the cell he turns to Aldalec, "Do you think they'll feed us while were in here?  I'm getting a little hungry."  He then goes and sits down and waits.
