Well I guess I can obligate your terms. One question though, can you at least accept appropiate bonuses for a level 1 PC?

Welcome badbaduila! Right now there are no openings that I know of for a level 1 character. Actually, VoyRager is the only one who has a submission thread running at the moment.

Unfortunately the number of willing players vastly exceeds the amount of willing DM's, so new games only start out every once in a while. It's been quiet for a while now though, so I've got a gut feeling that a new game will start up soon.

If you want to increase your chances, also take a look here. It is another popular PbP group on the WotC boards, and in my experience more games open up there than they do here.

Just keep checking these two boards regularly and you'll find an opening, you just have to be a bit patient unfortunately

Thanks guys, yes I will keep checking these boards and yes of course I can accept level appropriate bonuses. Who doesnt like bonuses ?? lol

Just looking at the character builder again. I take it this will let me update my character as the campaign progresses ? Lets me print off an up to date sheet before a session ? Not really important for pbp but could be really useful for a tabletop game.

yes, the online builder will let you update, but there is a limit to the number of characters. Don't know what it is,  but I'm sure someone will be happy to fill in the details. Play around with it and enjoy.

We're using standard edition war rules.  No posts of substance.  Do not read the other person's posts with comprehension.  Make frequent comparison to video games, MMOs, and CCGs.  Use the words "fallacy" and "straw man", incorrectly and often.  Passive aggressiveness gets you extra points and asking misleading and inflammatory questions is mandatory.  If you're getting tired, just declare victory and leave the thread.  Wait for the buzzer... and....

One, two, three, four, I declare Edition War

D&D should not return to the days of blindfolding the DM and players. No tips on encounter power? No mention of expected party roles? No true meaning of level due to different level charts or tiered classes? Please, let's not sacrifice clear, helpful rules guidelines in favour of catering to the delicate sensibilities of the few who have problems with the ascetics of anything other than what they are familiar with.

Just a quick note on the MMORPG as an insult comparison...

MMORPGs, raking in money by the dumptruck full.  Many options, tons of fans across many audiences, massive resources allocated to development.

TTRPGs, dying product.  Squeaking out an existence that relys on low cost.  Fans fit primarily into a few small demographics.  R&D budgets small, often rushed to market and patched after deployment.

You're not really making much of an argument when you compare something to a MMORPG and assume people think that means bad.  Lets face it, they make the money, have the audience and the budget.  We here on this board are fans of TTRPGs but lets not try to pretend none of us play MMORPGs.

Telling someone to move over a few feet is magical now? :|

I weep for this generation.

Given the laziness and morbid obsesity amongst D&Ders, being able to convince someone to get on their feet, do some heavy exercise, and use their words to make them be healthier must seem magical.

I've been looking at real adventures for a little while now and this is what i've noticed.

pros: the're really friendly, high activity, and good games.

cons: whether or not you get to play a game is based on how well you can make a character and extensive backgound,  if you don't want to bother with making up a long backstory then you need to read through a game that is currently going on and find out if they need a replacement.
