Okay, once everyone has finalized their sheets, I can post an introduction to the campaign, and we can begin. If you need a few more days, that's fine. As I said though, next week I'll be taking an absence of 4 days. Not sure if everyone would prefer to start, then wait, or just start after then.
Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed to see such sport, And the Dish ran away with the Spoon. He ran from conviction, and fed his addiction as the Dish heated the Spoon... The Spoon begged to go, but the Dish shouted : "NO!!" "The heroin will be ready soon!"
"Any time doing the right thing is funny as hell, it's probably Chaotic Good."
Yep, of course. I've made a few changes to my sheet - I think that should be pretty much it now. I took one flaw and one trait; I don't want to overdo it.
I wouldn't be averse to starting this after you get back honestly. Unless others have scheduling problems in the days following your return. It just seems kinda silly to try to get into an at least daily turn game for such a short time and then suddenly nothing for several days. Plus then you could take more time off for yourself during your break.
I will follow the majority though if others don't agree with me. I am still fully interested in playing.

Pretty much this. Plus it'll give me a bit of time to give my character sheet the ole once over.

Funny story: InQuest Magazine (I think it was InQuest) had an oversized Chaos Orb which I totally rooked someone into allowing into a (non-sanctioned) game. I had a proxy card that was a Mountain with "Chaos Orb" written on it. When I played it, my opponent cried foul:
Him: "WTF? a Proxy? no-one said anything about Proxies. Do you even own an actual Chaos Orb?" Me: "Yes, but I thought it would be better to use a Proxy." Him: "No way. If you're going to put a Chaos Orb in your deck you have to use your actual Chaos Orb." Me: "*Sigh*. Okay."
I pulled out this huge Chaos Orb and placed it on the table. He tried to cry foul again but everyone else said he insisted I use my actual Chaos Orb and that was my actual Chaos Orb. I used it, flipped it and wiped most of his board.
Unsurprisingly, that only worked once and only because everyone present thought it was hilarious.

no, see i can kill defenders, but 8 consecutive crits on a battlemind, eh walk it off.
Hi guys! So, I'm a sort of returning player to Magic. I say sort of because as a child I had two main TCG's I liked. Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon. Some of my friends branched off in to Magic, and I bought two pre-made decks just to kind of fit in. Like I said, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were what I really knew how to play. I have a extensive knowledge of deck building in those two TCG's. However, as far as Magic is concerned, I only ever used those two pre made decks. I know how the game is played, and I know general things, but now I want to get in the game for real. I want to begin playing it as a regular. My question is, are all cards ever released from the time of the inception of this game until present day fair game in a deck? Or are there special rules? Are some cards forbidden or restricted? Thanks guys, and I will gladly accept ANY help lol.
I have the same problem with women.

And that's why you should never, ever call RP Jesus on being a troll, because then everyone else playing along gets outed, too, and the thread goes back to being boring.
See, this is why RPJesus should be in charge of the storyline. The novel line would never have been cancelled if he had been running the show. Specifically the Slobad and Geth's Head talkshow he just described.
Not only was that an obligatory joke, it was an on-topic post that still managed to be off-topic due to thread derailment. RP Jesus does it again folks.
It was wonderful. Us Johnnies had a field day. That Timmy with the Grizzly bears would actually have to think about swinging into your Mogg Fanatic , giving you time to set up your silly combo . Nowadays it's all DERPSWING! with thier blue jeans and their MP3 players and their EM EM OH AR PEE JEES and their "Dewmocracy" and their children's card games and their Jersey Shores and their Tattooed Tenaged Vampire Hunters from Beverly Hills
Seriously, that was amazing. I laughed my *ss off. Made my day, and I just woke up.
ArtVenn You're still one of my favorite people... just sayin'.
You... You... Evil something... I actualy made the damn char once I saw the poster...
Now you made me see it again and I gained resolve to put it into my campaign. Shell be high standing oficial of Cyrix order. Uterly mad and only slightly evil.
And it'll be bad. Evil even. And ill blame you and Lizard for it :P.

...Am I the only one that thinks this is reaching the point of downright Kafkaesque insanity?
I condone the use of the word Kafkaesque. However, I'm presentely ambivalent. I mean, that can't be serious, right? We're April 1st, right? They didn't mod RPJesus for off-topic discussion when the WHOLE THREAD IS OFF-TOPIC, right?
Save or die. If you disagree with this, you're wrong (Not because of any points or arguements that have been made, but I just rolled a d20 for you and got a 1, so you lose).
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THE BEAR PRODUCING WORDS OF WILDING?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!
That's what RPJesus tends to do. That's why I don't think he's a real person, but some Magic Card Archive Server sort of machine, that is programmed to react to other posters' comments with obscure cards that do in fact exist, but somehow missed by even the most experienced Magic players.
And then come up with strange combos with said cards. All of that is impossible for a normal human to do given the amount of time he does it and how often he does it.
He/It got me with Light of Sanction , which prompted me to go to RQ&A to try and find if it was even possible to do combat damage to a creature I control (in light that Mark of Asylum exists).
Blue players get all the overpowerered cards like JTMS. I think it's time that wizards gave something to people who remember what magic is really about: creatures.
Initially yes, Wizards was married to blue. However, about a decade ago they had a nasty divorce, and a few years after that they began courting the attention of Green. Then in Worldwake they had a nasty affair with their ex, but as of Innistrad , things seem to have gotten back on track, and Wizards has even proposed .
You are my favorite. Yes you. And moments like this make it so. Thank you RPJesus for just being you.

That seems like the most logical option. Waiting it is then! Meantime, how about everyone post a bit about their history with D&D? If we're gaming together, it doesn't hurt to understand each other's perspectives a bit more.
I've DMed 3.5, Pathfinder, and homebrew systems on and off for a little over 9 years now. I took a few years hiatus in the middle, but I returned about 4 years ago. I prefer to DM mostly because I make a lousy player. Most everything I've done in 3.5 has been essentials, so my supplementary knowledge is pretty thin, aside from a brief stint in character optimization I was on. I like players who are cooperative, avoid metagaming, and like to push the boundaries just a little bit. I'm always happy to answer questions, and I'm a generally pretty friendly guy. I don't like DM's who play to flex their power over players. I'm here to make a fantastic story with you, not beat you to a pulp with my imaginary powers.

I first got a 3.5 PHB like 8 or 9 years ago, though I didn't actually play in any games for a few years due to my mother being unable to decide whether or not it was Satan's game (Though she never actually did anything particularly drastic, just kept flip-flopping on whether or not I was allowed to play). Eventually she chillaxed about it, plus I became an adult and such, and I've played largely one-shots, with the occasional campaign. I play pretty much all systems. I sometimes DM, though I mostly play because I love coming up with characters and playing and such, plus I tend to have trouble coming up with campaign plots without being overly critical of myself.
I like character optimization conceptually, but I prefer to actually play zany builds. Like, I'm the type of person who'll figure out a way to build punpun, and then play a guy with a magic top-hat that summons kittens. I'm also quite superchill about things, if my charrie becomes a problem for whatever reason, feel free to inform me and I'll change it.
I'm a bit of a rules lawyer, but I'm also a firm believer in rule 0. Basically it's like "Here's what the rules say on the subject, now do whatever you want." Though I haven't played 3.5 in a while so I'm a little rusty on this in addition to my usual superchillness.

I haven't played DnD a whole lot to be honest. I will be leaning on RPJesus as a crutch kind of, though I've seen enough DnD to understand what is going on. I have played a few real short games, though I don't think any were 3.5. I always like charismatic DMs in both playing and watching, weaving a good story is important. I haven't played a game in which things were taken very seriously yet, though I prefer things to be more on the serious side. The setting for this game is what drew me to it (that and RPJesus), the fact that it sounds morally ambiguous and somewhat serious tone-wise makes it sound fun to me. I prefer playing support-type characters, I don't need to do much damage but I like to help the other players through healing and/or tanking hits. This has been true in all games I have played with multiple people wherein a "support" role is possible.
I actually don't like the idea of character optimization, I just want to be useful, not a god. I feel creating a literally perfect character and stomping all competition takes a lot out of the game, no matter what game it might be. I try to follow the rules whenever possible, but my knowledge of rules is not so great so I'll be leaning on RPJesus for the more complex ones.
Despite my serious tone in my posts, I do like to actually have fun as well. The game is much better when everybody is having fun after all. I am fairly laid back about things, feel free to correct me if I make a mistake or corral me if I'm getting out of line somehow.
I haven't really played a lot of D&D, though I've played some of the derived computer games. More recently I've joined the Core Colliseum which is a sort of arena version of play-by-post. I know nothing about 4th Ed, really, but I'm more or less up to speed on most of the general concepts in 3rd, I think.
I see optimisation as a bit of a challenge and quite like it, though I'd rather optimise a wacky character than play a cookie-cutter. I think I would prefer either to optimise a sub-optimal concept; if I see a really good build I would usually rather change a few things to make it a bit more unique, even if it's less good overall.
I don't actually want to play a super-powered character, but I kind of want to try to make one - I guess I want to be an unsuccessful optimiser.
