I shift back five feet from Lorenz. As ice forms over my armor, I focus my energy on I17 a mist of ice surrounds the two soldiers closest to Nadarr and the two grunts near Gyrdian.

Actions Show

Move Action: Shift to L20
Free Action: Elemental Escalation to attack S1, +1d10 to all dmg, +2 to all my defenses until the end of my next turn
Standard Action: Ice Prison Cha vs FD,S1,S3,G3,G4
14(1d20) +5 = 19; 7(1d20) +5 = 12; 9(1d20) +5 = 14; 9(1d20) +5 = 14

 8(1d8) +7 +1(1d10) = 16 cold dmg enemies hit are slowed

Two of the hobgoblins die, one soldier and one grunt, when their hearts stop due to the cold.  The other two shake off the cold like polar bears.


The soldier next to Nadarr continues to flail at him.


S3 Mechanics Show

Standard:  Flail vs Nadarr:  Attack (-penalty) vs AC, damage: (1d20+7-2=22, 1d10+4=13)  Hit for 13 damage and Nadarr is slowed & marked until EoNT


The cage door of the spider cage finally falls down.  The spider then moves and jumps at Nadarr.


D Mechanics Show

Move:  to K10
Standard:  Death from Above:  Jump to J15 (does not provoke OA) vs Nadarr:  Attack vs AC, damage: (1d20+9=28, 1d6+3=8)  Hit for 8 damage and ongoing 5 poison


Gyrdian, Nadarr is in trouble.  Other than healing, what can you do?  Gyrdian's turn.

As the hobgoblins die Dredge smiles, "You shall all meet my queen soon!"  A pulse of dark energy flows from his symbol, over the group and over the nearby hobgolins.

Mechanics Show

Ok, Gyrdian.  Dredge's Death Surge reduced your grunt to mush.  Looks like one more good hit on the soldier pounding on Nadarr will finish him.  Or you could get him to fall into the well.  The spider didn't even notice Dredge's attack.

Gyrdian pushes past the hobgoblin shoulder trying to provoke an attack. Instead the trained soldier holds up his shield in a defenseive posture, showing his concern about rousing the ire of the dragonborn, who, although woozy, is still threatening. Gyrdian sneers as he continues past the soldier and comes about to flank the spider with Nadarr. The spider turns to watch him, but Nadarr rattles around in his armor and with his sword, bangs his shield. As the spider turns back towards the noise, Gyrdian strikes with a terrible ferocity tearing a gaping wound into the arachnid's side with just his bare hands. As the blood washes over him, Gyrdians eyes glow and his vision sharpens, noting details in his foes stances that leave holes in their defenses. He lets out a shout of triumph that rivals one of Nadarr's roars, unsettling the foes who remain.

Standard: Feral Assault on D Dex vs RD 20(1d20) +6 +2 +2 = 30
That's a crit, so I gotta use my surge on it for extra damage.
Damage: 2d12(24)+2d8(16)+8=48 (hoping that should bloody it!)
Free Action: Lifeblood for +2 to hit
Free Action: Ruthless Demonstration -2 to being attacked and Intimidate 12(1d20) +5 = 17 (unlikely to work, but can't hurt to try since it is free.)
Minor: Victory dance for criting with my awesome power!

Note:  Since Dredge's bonus & Gyrdian's bonus are both power bonuses, they don't stack.

The spider is considered hostile so it has +10 to its will.


The spider ignores Gyrdian's threat to make it back off, but fully intends to make him a meal.

Lorenz knows he cannot stand toe to toe with the soldier.  He waits for his opportunity.  When the hobgoblin next swings with his weapon, Lorenz is ready.  Rather than try and block the blow, the young elf slides away, hiding in the blind spot caused by the hobgoblin's own attack.  He sees that the move has caught the attention of the other soldier.  That hobgoblin was currently being harassed by Nadarr, and the dragonborn looked to have him on the ropes.  Lorenz loads up a couple of bolts and lets them fly.  One slams into the soldier's forehead, while the other flies over the slumping form to hit the spider behind him.  The sooner those two creatures are taken care of, the sooner Nadarr can protect Lorenz from this other hobgoblin.  Just be sure he's safe, Lorenz ducks into the veteran's shadow, taking comfort in the closeness of all that steel.

Dredge turns the the remaining soldier and raises his symbol.  "We will defeat you no matter how many allies you summon!"  Dark energy then flows from the holy symbol and surrounds the creature causing him to twich and lower his guard.

Mechanics Show
Minor Action: Healing Word on Nadaar:
  Effect: Nadaar can spend a surge and gain an additional 3 hp (Bonus healing (1d6=3))
  Effect: Dredge gains 5 temp hp   

Standard Action: Death's Shadow vs S4
  Attack: Death's Shadow vs S4 (Ref attack) (1d20+6+2=12) MISS!
  Effect: The target takes a -2 penalty to all defenses against the next attack made against it before the end of your next turn

Just noticed I failed to include a couple of effects on Nadarr in the tracker table.  Fixed.


The spider's poison is still running through Nadarr's veins, but doesn't hurt him much.

Nadarr Start of Turn Show
5 poison damage (from ongoing damage 5 poison)


Nadarr, you can finish the turn I started.  The 5 poison takes away your temp.

Even with your slowed condition, you can move to block the grunts' path (assuming that's what you want to do).
