A thought occured to me today as I was skimming the boards. How are people supposed to find the PLay-by-Post Haven? Unlike the old board, one is unlikey to stumble upon it by randomly skimming the boards trhe way I found the old haven.

I figured what we need is an advertising campaign of sorts. Put an link to the Haven along with a small description in your signatures, mention it in you4r blog posts, if you use that feature. Mention it to friends who might be interested.

The Haven is hidden away in the depths of these boards, and the only way it's going to get more lively is if we get thye word out and let people know it exists.

Any other suggestions for brining in traffic would be appreciated. Post away, and lets make this group live.

Oddly I found the group because you posted a note in the old forums that the group was here...

All because I was re-reading an old game thread due to rebuilding my PC from it (sort of) for 4E.

I agree that adding a sig to your posts with a link to the Haven may go a long way.  PM me if you want to know how it's done.

Activity seems to have picked up as of late, too.

Agreed, activity has definitely picked up recently, so the signature advertising seems to be working,. That and my monthly broadcasts might be bringing lapsed members back in. Naturally, the slow but steady restoration of old features after the board switch (sblock, for example) is probably helping bring people back as well.

Another interesting fact. I just noticed that we are actually listed on the community homepage as a Featured Group! Wish I had noticed before I sent the broadcast out.

Anybody have any further ideas to bring more people into the haven?

You've been popping up on featured groups at least since I subscribed to the community forums...

I have to say that the biggest challenge for me to find this place was to figure out that I had to stop clicking on FORUMS at the top right of my screen and start clicking on the -much smaller- Forum - at the bottom left in the group menu... and I knew this place existed because I had just joined prior to this new format (which totally threw me off and cause me to quit... until Dark Sun came back!)... I'd say, rather sneaky to have put the forums inside the group and discontinued the ones outside!
So I may be severely internet challenged, but there are likely other people like me out there and unless they are pro-actively looking for this place, I'd say odds are rather slim they find it!

Hi. I'm somewhat new to the Haven but not new to WotC. I've been playing over at the Real Adventure site for almost a decade now. For me, the hardest thing about the Haven is that you don't have a General Discussion Thread or an Introduction Thread. There are a ton of smaller threads but I almost feel as if I am intruding by posting in them. You might find that people who come by this site will stay if they feel it is friendly and welcoming. Just a thought.

And I knew you guys were here all along but I did not come over to investigate until Pashelik invited me to participate in a game he is running. I cannot resist a good game.

I do have a question and I do not mean to offend anyone. Why are there two places at WotC that are basically doing the same thing? It really seems to me that The Haven and The Real Adventures are doing the exact same thing, running games. I'm not sure why there are two places and it seems a shame to me that they cannot be combined. You guys have some fantastic players over here and it's a shame we can't hook the two groups up so that everyone meets each other. I almost feel cheated that I haven't been here before, even though I knew it was here.

The Real Adventures area has the same problems in being visible to anyone visiting the site. Without my bookmarks and subscriptions, I would be lost! I have no clue what the answer to this is, but I certainly hope someone clever comes up with a solution.

(I see I'm a bit late for the discussion. Ha!)

Once upon a time - the two were in very different parts of the forum. PbP Haven was a part of the Gleemax project while RA was off in another section (general gaming I believe). At that time - I think the two groups were largely unaware of each other.

Once PbP Haven got lumped in with the other PbP groups in general gaming - they were both already established groups, so it would be difficult to combine them really.

At this point, the two groups are both highly active (PbP haven has experienced the most growth out of the 13 PbP groups that I track, but RA is a consistent performer as well), so I don't know that combining them would be good even - since then it would be more likely for things to "slip off the first page" - which is not good for a PbP game.
