I Been running my game(Home-brewed using the adnd 2ed books as a tool kit set to help create that game). I haven't missed a month without running at least one session in 20 years, meaning I have done more gaming than most who started in the 70s. I stopped playing characters on a serious basis in 1996 cause I couldn't find a DM as good as my first DM. My first DM was a military man they called the "First Gygax" cause he invented a rpg based off-board games before D

    • Pheras did a lot of politics with his group and everything went shockingly well.

Due to various circumstances, I had to do a flashfoward in my very first campaign. It was more of a learning experience for me than anything else, and I love the memories that came with it. I decided then to have the campaign help set the mood and world for the 2nd campaign I recently started, whereas it was the original world now polished up and 10+ years after Torog's death and freedom. I think ending campaigns is bittersweet.
I have a question, out of all the possible main plot arcs to...

Would be awesome to see an article from your players relating some of their fondest (and not so) memories from the campaign :-)

gnolls are one of my favorite threats as a DM.but the ultimate is giant wasps that try killing the characters to feed to there young.
      December 16, 2012 10:42 PM PST
In my opinion, there are a few things the wrong with this gnoll; a) the little braids near the ear, need to go, this is, in a sense, a bipedal, humanoid hyena, so the ear hair, looks unnatural, b) they need to look dumb, but not like Quasimodo, the hunchback thing is weird and awkward, it needs to look hyena like, so have their back straighter, but give them sloping shoulders, c) their knees do not ALWAYS have to be bent, they are humanoids, so give them something that says 'feral' without...

I cast my vote for the Grizzowl. I had always thought of the beast in terms of the Gryphon as a combined creature (not that the Owlbear belongs to Greek mythology).
Do you plan on illustrating a mating pair, as the original concept indicates? with a lean enough frame on the female Grizzowl, could wings actually come into play?
The idea of a mating pair should bring potential for more realism with this creature, and it certainly gives great opportunities for DM's who could imagine the...

Oh man, I wanted to vote last week "Significant violence is shown. Contact and fatal injuries, including dismemberment, are shown, with significant blood."

I also agree with the style guidelines listed - great start!
And Westerness has a great point: "rating" is still very subjective, and the US (presumably the biggest market) is quite prudish compared to many other first world countries. I think many have already said this but it's worth repeating: it's probably easiest to start with a slightly more prudish standard to push the broad-based appeal, and open up more risqué materials for those who want it. That seems to be the standard...

This list sounds perfect. As far as the survey, I'm not sure which level to pick, but I'd like to see definite hints of "sexy" in D&D artwork. Cover most of the bum and bust (is that armor realistic), but you can definitely allude to them (and everything else is fair game). Give equal "sexy" treatment to males. Remember Hennet from 3.5? There's nothing wrong with some male chest. Focus on very expressive facial expressions. Accentuating the eyes also usually has good effect. In a fight...

My Profile

    About Me

About Me: I've been playing RPGs since I was in Grade 8, starting with AD&D 2nd edition and moving into many different games since then, including Vampire: the Masquerade, Mage: the Ascension, some homebrew games GM'd by a good friend and some game systems that I don't remember the names to.

In the last decade, I played the original Mage character who was the template for the hemaphrodite uber-Mage who ends the oWoD setting for Mage, I've play-tested the nWoD system (I'm the reason why Appearance isn't a core Attribute in that system), played in numerous games and I've DM'd two different games and Storytold one.

The game I storytold was run using the Orpheus game setting but using my own modified system, based on the nWoD system. It worked wonderfully, but some personal issues meant that the game was put on semi-permanent hiatus.

The two D&D games I've run in the last 10 years are both D&D based, one being a 3.5E game that was designed around the computer-game series Thief. The characters played thieves (not just rogues) who existed in the setting concurrently with the events of the computer games, doing different things that impacted the setting as well.

The second D&D game that I've run is still on-going. It is set in my version of the generic setting for 4E D&D, with the characters trying to find items that will help drive a dragon out of a neighbouring city, taking them through many of the places listed in the 4E products, such as Hantumah, Nocturus and Shinaelestra.
