Wow i am lazy blogger, I guess this is why I don't have a facebook.  A lot has been going on since last I posted. Got married, had honeymoon it rocked couldn't be happier, well I could use a more permanant job solution. But moving on.. this was pretty cool: twitpic.com/16bzjh its Wil Wheaton wearing a shirt I made backstage on the Big Bang Theory will the shirt be on an episode, I freaking hope so he is scheduled to be on some time in April I'll keep my eyes peeled.

So DnD has been going okay I have a Pathfinder group that runs every other week, where my Half-Orc monk is kicking ass (not 4th ed ass but still some ass), and ventures to revive my 4th ed. World Cage campaign are finally breaking free of scheduling conflicts. Huzzah.

Anywho I have still not submitted my portfolio to Wizards, why do you ask, because I am a chicken $#*% thats why. I have been doing some contests over at Artorder and have every confidence that I am good enough but for some reason i can't seem to hit send on the portfolio, perhaps when the ADs come back from PAX East.

Finally I have been doing art for these guys Pantheon Press as well as about a billion t-shirts for LoLmart so imagine my surprise today when both of my current projects were open and this is what I find in my photoshop:

Thats right kittens and grim reapers, never let it be said that i am not a versitile artist.

okay later, the reaper and kittens await noone.

P.S. Look for the kitty on a shirt this week on lolmart, as for the reaper i'll leave that to Pantheon and explain.

This was originally ment to be my wedding blog, were I tell you how awesome my wedding to my beloved wife was on October 24th. It really was the happiest day of my life from start to finish, but that one might have to wait until after the Honeymoon.

Because so much incrediable stuff is happening (I blame my beautiful wife she has always made me lucky:

I am sure many of you are aware of D20 radio (where gamers roll) and their DnD podcast Radio free Hommlet. Well I only got a minute into adventure 33 before DM David gave me a huge shout out (I'm Patmos on their forums) for some sketchs i had done for them. Thanks to them for being so cool.

I just found out that at least one t-shirt I I have designed will appear on this season of "Big Bang Theory". I did a bunch of shirts for stupidpuppyhead.com over the past few years hopefully it will be this one:

    blue blues

    Monday, October 5, 2009, 1:25 PM

Okay I have loved magic for along time, and I hav dealt with it growing and changing over the years, I watched as hurloon minotaur faded into the mist and wait for a day when creatures become so powerful Kird Ape will return to standard (its coming). Through it all I have always been a blue player at heart. Currently  I feel that blue is getting a nerf hammer by Wizards. Now I could be wrong, maybe I am jaded let me know?

Examples you ask? Well this little zendikar comparison got me a bit riled up. Recently in the pseudremoval/containment category white has received this card: Journey to Nowhere, a solid card for 2 mana with lots of interesting ways to play it (presuming that the returning creature triggers comes into play effects it is even good against your own creatures if you can remove it). To fill a similar role Zendikar provides blue with Paralyzing Grasp 3 mana cost, required the creature to already be tapped to completely stop it can be removed by anything that can kill Journey, the creature remains in play so tribal/ally abilities/ landfall would still trigger, and if the creature somehow becomes untapped wham it can attack or ability with tap once. In almost everyway this is an inferior control card to white.

Now blue is generally weaker from a removal standpoint then white (at least now). But from a balancing aspect I would say that if priced the same Journey to Nowhere is still a stronger card. How would I fix this? Well drop the casting cost to 1U would do it, but I think that if Paralyzing grasp came with a "when Paralyzing grasp comes into play tap targeted creature" it would become a much better card without overpowering its slot have a bit more blue flavor. If you really wanted to get crazy i'd swith the enchant creature to enchant permanant instead to add some versitility to the card.

What I think is missing from current blue design is twiddle like abilities and card or jsut tapping in general,  blue needs a blinding mage right now. Merfolk Seastalkers is a step in the right direction but lets see some more of that instead of the nearly unplayable Disorient effects ( although a reverse firebreathing ability for a creature is blue design space untapped (pun unintended).

Holey moley I doubt anyone is reading this, but I am posting anyway, booyah! Saturday is my Bachelor party, and in proper nerd fashion i believe I will be wisked away to the NJ Medieval Times for feasting and jousting and what not. Having never been and having missed the Ren Faire circuit due to wedding plannings so I am sure to have a good time. This is followed by a trip to Bayonne's own Board Game King where the king himself shall close his doors for my board game, magic and video game (not to mention drinking pleasure). I orginally asked for a weekend long DnD game but it turns out I just have too many friends, oh well

Anyhoo in other related news the portfolio progresses should be done with another piece in a day or two should start looking around for the WotC art drop address soon. I had alot of fun reading the Warden Class Act in this months Dragon, I was even more surprised to find that the authors were both NY residents like me, definately need to hit them up and ask them for pointers on getting Dragon and Dungeon to accept my article submissions.

Be back soon with some maps and game notes from my previous campaign sessions.

Ladies and Genrtlemen, warriors and wizards, nice to meet you. I am Patmos and I have decided for the moment to make this little establishment my home. At least the home for my schemes and geeky ideas.

Why should you care? You ask, and the answer quite definately is " you shouldn't really". However if you were inclined to care the reasons would be this: I am an Illustrator and graphic artist by trade, and after years of toiling in the graphic art and web design field I am attempting to put my portfolio together and submit it to WotC in hopes of doing art for products i trully enjoy. I intend to cronicle this experience as well a provide insite on my DnD game (when I get to run it again). and other adventures in the world of gaming.

    Nerd Cred:

playing DnD since ADnD 2ed i was 10-11 so that makes it about 18 years. Besides DnD I have played GURPS, WoD (all 5 of the original books),BESM, Paranoia, Star Wars (West end and D20), and tried, own, or read about a million more.

I also am an avid Magic player, playing that since the end of Unlimited. Although like DnD that is on and off again, as it is hard to get together with my nerdier friends. Currently I draft about twice a month at my friend's board game store in NJ, and do respectably against the waves of 17 year olds that have only been playing for a couple months.

I play Warhammer, 40k, Mordheim, World of Warcraft, and a billion console games.

My favorite board games are Mystery of the Abbey, Titan, and robo Rally.

I used to design and draw cell phone games, and still consider myself and game designer (I haven't missed a mark rosewater article in like 5 years).

I have the obligatory half-finished Fantasy Novel on my hard drive.

    I collect weird dice.

3/4th of my bookshelf is Role-playing, Comics, and fantasy/sci-fi paper backs, the rest is art books and some classics.

Okay so now we reach the end of my intro blog, please stay tuned as I try and start pumping out some actual content.
