At this point, I don't think its possible for Px2 to truly die. It is forever destined to limp onward in a state of half death with and at erratic times burst with new found energy. I have seen Px2 in bad shape many many times since the board shift. But it has this indomitable will of just not falling apart.
As for new player acquisition, its not as bad as you guys act. I may not have been active here for awhile, but I have been peeking in every so often, just lurking around. And you guys do get random new people semifrequently. Monoredburn? EnglishLanguage?
I think Px2 has long term survivability and draws from two different sources. We're attached to a mother ship of a forum that is healthy and looks to be that way as long as WotC keeps making the great games it makes great. Inevitably we get people from other parts peeking in because one of our threads pops up on the "latest posts" section or because someone clicks a link of someone from px2 who posted elsewhere. We have a large stream of people just sitting over our heads. We may not be as visible as we would like but we DO have visibility. Promos are the way to go. The Ymtc promo back in 2010, added integral members of Px2 of then and many of them still are here now. Mono, Parsath, and Captan Lunch all became involved and stuck around to play games. Rag, Silly, Dr Demento and Febb are still here.
Here's the second source Px2 draws its survivability from: The "longterm whiners". Yes you keep px2 alive just by coming back and reminscing about px2's better days. Px2 is in bad shape, and I have doubts that it will truly ever get back to its heights. (whenever that was, 2008? before my time)
I think Px2 need not lose heart, accept it for what it is now. It will stick around. It will be a place for people to come back and play some fun games. It won't be the place for fierce competitive games like say MTG salvation or Mafiascum, but a chance for fun with old friendly faces.
And this post does not mean I am back. It just means I have hope in Px2, and may be back some day.

Yeah I did last night, but you weren't on yet. My dad enforces a curfew, so I can't stay up much beyond 11:00.

Wise words. I seem to remember you being pretty wet behind the ears. Thanks, EP. There was absolutely nothing that said, "you need to post this," but you did so anyway, and that's very kind of you. Even if you did call us whiners. :P

Oh, the term whiners was meant affectionately. People whine because they care. Apathy is far worse.
