@Defuse: Explain your reasonings behind the assumptions you made and then state why the Rancor is clearly different, because from my point of view you've demonstrated that something that looks lethal can clearly not be lethal but are holding the Rancor to a different standard.
I'll give my own answer to this, though defuse is certainly free to answer as well.
It's a matter of degrees.
Scenario A: I attack you with a knife. Scenario B: I shove a tac-nuke handgrenade down your throat after pulling the pin.
With Scenario A maybe I'm trying to kill you, but maybe I'm just trying to get a sample of your blood/flesh for dna testing. A knife attack certainly could be a kill attempt, but there's plenty of other ways you could work it as well. Scenario B though is a lot harder to find a non-lethal explanation for. What? Did you have a lead-lined stomach that somehow contained the nuclear detonation???
On the order of lethality, sending a Rancor to attqack someone certainly seems much closer to Scenario B than to Scenario A. That's my take anyway.

My favorite scumtell of basically an excuse for lurking when not being pressured. Badguy wasn't even on PK's list of lurkers, yet he felt the need to say sorry and give an excuse. Thats a major scumtell to me and in my experience people that do that are almost always scum.
