"That Magic", or, "How Four Unstable Overachievers Saved the World"

    Saturday, December 17, 2011, 7:26 PM

A tale of a Shade Ranger, a Wilden Druid, a Dragonborn Sorcerer, a Dragonborn Companion Character (Leader), and other guest stars who drop in!

    PROLOGUE

The ranger Zigoné chased a Vecnite priest out of the Shadowfell, and is now wandering here on the material plane like Caine in Kung Fu. The shade caught up with his quarry amidst a necromantic ritual which would empower the priest with life energy from the Material Plane in order to improve his hold over a small demesne of the Shadowfell.

This profane ritual attracted the attention of local druid Gortalon, a Wilden claiming to be the chosen of Corellon. Regarded by locals as an interesting, well-meaning crackpot, his small army of "battletoads" made it impossible for the priest to complete the ritual. Aghast at the wasted ritual resources, the priest fled, promising revenge.

The pair and their frogs were themselves overwhelmed by a rash of undead whose rest had been disturbed by the ritual. Hightailing it back to town, they requested the assistance of Drax, who had been looking for a way to test and master his burgeoning draconic sorcery. His ability to blast, burst, freeze, and roast the hordes proved indispensable.

Impressed, a wandering spellsword challenged Drax to an Honor Duel. The dragonborn equivalent of "racing for pinks", Grakthar's defeat rendered him honor-bound to serve and defend Drax for life.

On their way back to town, the heroes stumbled across a Goliath possessed of curiously stunted language skills, and an extremely large weapon. He did not know what it was or where it had come from, but his tribe had tasked him with the quest to find out where it came from and what to do with it. The heroes advised him to "hit things with it" - he did, and was well-pleased.

Amused by their new companion, they decided to bring him along on their ride home. His reverence for technology is so great, however, that when the group's carriage was crushed by a tree in a storm, the goliath stopped to mourn it for hours. The group was forced to leave him behind, but hopes to see him again soon.

    Chapter 1 Preview

The heroes press on through the rain and are accosted by creatures who mistake the team for easy prey. Allies bloody one another with Magic Weapon-infused blasts! A light from a tower glows in the distance. The Froglord hides under the bridge!

(This prologue was a shared backstory we came up with together. The rest will be descriptions of our game. I'm playing the druid.)
