    Campaign Region

... And now for something completely different.

This is the map I made for "A Fresh Wound", the first adventure in my campaign Old Wounds.  "A Fresh Wound" is a location-based adventure, so the plot points can follow many paths to the final destination.  I did this partially to reinforce the frontier feel of Paragon characters plunging into the unknown regions of their home world.

It also occurred to me that most Paragon Tier parties would be capable of some kind of scrying.  This map is intended to represent the result of a scrying ritual performed before entering the area.  You will notice it is not labeled, but I think important locations still draw the eye.  Hopefully it enhances the sense of entering uncharted territory and encourages an attitude of exploration.

The first map is the view north from the petrified vale where the "scrying eye" is located.  Turning south, the PCs see the region of the second adventure, Wounded Pride.

    Where would you go first?

    Crankin' Up the Volume

I finished the plot synopsis for my upcoming campaign, Old Wounds, and am now building encounters.  It will be quite the journey!  It has a little bit of everything.  Now it is time to add some spice and let it simmer.

My computer has foley sounds.  I like this very much.   I plan to make audio files to add ambience to my upcoming adventures.  A little "behind the door" dialogue, the sound of approaching horses, and other little things to make those mastered skill checks and challenges sparkle in the players' eyes. I should stop by a stock audio-visual website and grab some cheap licensed images too.  Gotta love royalty-free stuff!  Maybe I'll scavenge for some movie excerpts to beef up arrivals at new locations and important witnessed events.  Cult sacrifices and vistas of enchanted vales come to mind.  Stock footage makes me happy.

Audio files would be best for those wonderful cut scenes that intensify foreshadowing and arm the players with knowledge their characters don't possess. They can then prepare for the action and lend an even greater hand in the storytelling.

Mmmm... tasty.  Let the campaign-building begin.
