Over the weekend we played a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Normally I am DM and run the games, but thankfully Dan stepped up to the plate and ran a game. It was good to be a player again. I love running the games but every now and then it is nice to sit down and just roll some dice and kill some monsters. Dan planned out a really cool little quest, built off the movie “Evil Dead”, he did a wonderful job tossing some cool creatures at us and working on the fly. I say this last part because my character died and I had to make another one real quick and insert it in to the adventure. So here is how that went down, we all found amulets, those amulets then tossed us into a strange rooms, where we each had to undergo skill challenges, these challenges where done individually with the person. Well I knew failure would mean the possibility of death…Everybody made it through theirs and then my turn came up. I got through the first part and everything came down to one more success or one more failure…yep I failed. Dan quickly came up with a way to not have my character die, a vision of lady death came to me and she gave me another chance, guess what failed the roll again….By this time Dan is laughing at me and trying to figure out a way to save me, we came to the conclusion that, “Hey sometimes the dice are against you.” So I slid the warlord character I made off to the side and pulled out some others that Dan and I stash away just for these occasions. All in all it was a lot of fun, I don’t mind death in games, and I am not one of those people that get up in arms about their characters. I like when I die, I find it to be funny on a personal level. Anyways, that was our epic weekend of DnD…I love talking games with people so feel free to comment.

So I know everybody goes through this, but it is always hard...My group that I have been paying with for over a year has fallen apart. Nothing bad happened, people moved away. I just am bummed out about this because I took this group from level one all the way to lvl 20. Was really looking forward to taking them all the way to level 30. Well I guess when one door closes another one opens. I created a smaller group, with the remaining people from the old group. People are excited to start playing again, plus they have new characters to try out. I hope that every thing goes good...I will keep you posted.

So I came up with Idea for an enterance to a Lair, I know this might be already out there but I really like it and hope that others will find it cool too. My players have been hanging out in a town I created called ColdWaters, it is a whole town built inside a mountain next to an undermountain lake. On the middle of the lake there is a small Island. That is where I am putting the enterance to my lair, it is going to be a giant stone skull that will lead down into an halfway flooded lair...I thought it was cool.

After several months of playing D&D 4E with my group we have finally settled into playing a true campaign. In the beginning we just ran single shots, premade quests and smaller quests that I have created. Out of all this something happened one single goal for the group has emerged. I am a new DM and I have avoided trying to come up with a campaing that I have created my self. With this new goal though it gives, me and my players, a cool, easy path to follow.
I created this blog for any body who is interested in reading up on what I am doing as a new DM on a new Campaign… Cthulhu help us all.
