I was just wondering how the Dungeons and Dragons encounter sessions are going at the King of Cards in Queen Street?

I had a few mates going to them they said it was pretty mint aye although I kinda got the feeling it was better to go from the start and frequently.. instead of later and not very often.. To be honest though I like the old fashion way of playing in a regular group of mates instead of all this card ****.

I like the regular group with mates aswell. Although it would be interesting to see what other people are up too. There do not appear to be many people in NZ that are active on the WotC forum, so hard to know what is happening around Auckland.

I've heard that Vagabonds on the Northshore also run games. Do you know anything about that?

There was a new Encounters just start world-wide. King of Cards/The America Club are still offering to run it from the beginning if you missed the first couple of sessions. Their next games day is on Sunday the 11th if you wanted to have a go and run through the first 3 or 4 encounters.

Do you know where it's held and how much it might cost? Do people have to register or book?

DnD Encounters is a free programme, no-one should be charging for it.

King of Cards is offering it on their next Games Day which is Sunday 11th December. Their games days are all free, you don't need to register or book, just turn up. Bring your own dice etc. You can bring along a 1st level RPGA created character or use one of the pre-gens that come with the encounter. If you want to play in one of the other games if you have other RPGA characters you can bring them along incase. The store opens at 10am and closes at 4pm. Games will run as soon as we have enough to form a group. King of Cards is at the bottom of Queen Street in the Queen's Arcade basement level. They are open 7 days a week and sell a range of DnD stuff.

The America club meet on Tuesday nights at the Auckland Uni (details in the blog entry) The club has a membership fee for the year, the club nights are free. The games at the Uni club are mostly long-term campaigns and they advertise those on their mailing list and on the club nights. I mentioned in another post I'm looking to run the current Encounters and I'm having a character creation session on Wednesday night 7th Dec at Uni. They have a board games night on Wednesday nights where some RPG happens as well. They meet at the Auckland Uni campus. At the moment it's in the Arts 1 building on Symond Street.

It costs $10 for the year. They do a membership drive at the O Week of Uni at the end of Feb/beginning of March.
