So in October I'm going to DM my first game. I'm going to keep it simple. I will be using the "Loud water Adventurer" in the forgotten realms guide book, but I would like to know what can I do (visual) to help emerge my group in the world. I'm buying the red box when it comes out in September, but any helpful input would greatly appreciated.
I have been playing D&D for half a year now. I feel like i know how to make a good mix of combat and no-combat encounters in a dungeon, but i am still looking for something to make my dungeons unforgettable and more interesting. If anybody has a suggestion i could use it.
I'm a new DM running a 4.0 summer adventure set in the Forgotten Realms for my 10 year son, two fathers (both old schoolers like myself) and their kids. I'd like to introduce an enigmatic Minotaur Monk NPC. Do Minotaurs exist in the Forgotten Realms? What would be the most credible way to introduce a Minotaur and where in the Forgotten Realms would be from? Thanks for the help!
What? Think this is awesome? Well HELL ya it is, how often do you get to see me as Sagat fighting along side Wolverine?! Check out my new blog on the Anime Expo in L.A.! It's wicked :D community.wizards.com/kingsofmetal/blog/...
I am down in Nova Scotia, I already know there are barely any players down here so I intend to try and expand the D&D experience around here. I managed to find 5 players and have run into a problematic situation... One, the only location I know of to purchase D&D miniatures and related items is Quantum Frontier Games & Comics. Two, they only keep Savage Encounters in stock as far as I know. Three, I need 2 kobold slingers, 3 skirmishers, 4 minions, 2 dragonshields, a wyrmpriest, 2 guard drakes, a spiretop drake, the young white dragon and require anyone's knowledge on how to represent...
Check out this dice rolling tube at www.brettmeyer.com.  This is one of my favorite products I have ever purchased.  It speeds up D&D and prevents many other problems that the traditional rolling causes.  It is already being used in Backgammon tournaments and is being reviewed by a world monopoly champion.  The site provides a lot of details on how it enhances role play games.  Also great for any game that uses dice.

A few months ago, a few of my friends throught it would be a nice idea to do a D&D game, and apointed my as DM. this was when we were all knee deep in Coursework so we all agreed that we would save it until after things cleared up. So in in the intermeaning time, I've been preparing. Last week, we got our first session done. It went ... well lets say it didn't go briliantly. I know it was a mixture of silght incompitence on my part, since this was everyone's first session, doing the wrong type of game for them, the fact that two of the players were taking centre stage, and that one of...
Have any of you read The Eye Of the World? Well, I am doing that sort of story line, but with a few tweaks. I am DMing for a group of Four; A Minotaur Fighter, A Dragonborne Warlock, a Dragonborne sorcerer, And I play a Goliath Warden called Kavaki, The Warder. the Minotaur, Asteroth, is the son of a village elder, And he was chosen by the elder to adventure into the world. Upon leaving his village, he is greeted by a shardmind Psion. They are on their way to Fallcrest, when they are attacked by bandits. they succeed, and get to Fallcrest. They meet a sorcerer, and then they head into...
Hi all, here is my conversion of the old D&D adventure "The clearing of Castle Caldwell" from "Castle Caldwell and Beyond". Its my first attempt at converting as I've only been playing/dming 4e for a couple of months (but played basic/1st ed/2nd ed for too many years). Any help and comments on how to change this for the better greatly appreciated. Many thanks. The Clearing of Jortays Folly   Background   Clifton Caldwell, a local merchant, has recently purchased a small castle, located out of town.  The castle had not been occupied for some time.  Clifton had purchased the castle for a...
For those who knew the magical works of Ronnie James Dio, it saddens all of us today for he has passed, and I ask kindly of everyone that knew Dio, to pay their respects...   Today,  I was having a great day, and I was getting back into my adventures with friends, but today I have been sadden at the loss of a metal god. He was a hero to me, and my biggest inspiration. Now that he is gone, it feels right now at this moment my whole world has shifted from his passing. However even though he is gone, he has left behind the greatest, beautifulest music ever known across the world. He has...
