Well we have a new player joining our group at the next session and he has decided to take up the role of party healer in place of the existing priest (Father Tully) which has been ran as a secondary pc by another player since its creating player dropped out of the game. What I need to do is come up with some really memorable encounter that wipes out Father Tully (with no possibility of return) that will fit within the campaigns current plotlines (see community.wizards.com/new_to_dming/go/th... for details). I'm thinking either something werewolf related or possibly a precision...

Note: I already posted this in the What's a DM to Do? section, but I felt it was perhaps more appropriate as a blog here instead. I’ve been DMing for a long time, but I’ve recently begun a new campaign after a long break. I’ve been going back and freshening up my DM skills, and part of that process has been trying to coherently and explicitly lay out techniques I’ve been developing intuitively over time. This technique I’m about to show you is one that I have had great success with in many different groups. I present: The Controlled Sandbox...
I'm currently in the process of designing a campaign around 2 player characters.  Odds are the size of the group will never increase, so I'm looking for ideas to tailor adventures for two PCs.  PCs will most likely be Fey Pact Eladrin Warlock and Fey Pact of the White Will Hexblade.  I'm granting each PC one piece of +1 armor to make them a little more durable, and I'll be on the high end of the XP budget for each encounter so they still remain a little challenging and not simply a minion slaughterfest.  I'm flirting with the idea of making Second Wind a minor action...
I am looking for suggestions to help recruit new players in my community.

In one brief moment of editing I accidentally deleted the entire WIKI resources page. While I can rebuild some of it as I freq. the sites and forums often, I can't rebuild all of it. Many of those links I added as I came across the info and I created the WIKI as a means of easy data storage and retrieval. So, if you found or find a site useful and want it added to the WIKI please edit, or PM me and I will edit, (after copy/saving the page) the DM Resources page. Ok how high dose a monster hover? I have read the hand guide, I use the compendium, and I don't get what I was to know. That is how high do they hover.
This is my first attempt at a poll so forgive me if it doesnt work correctly (poll thing didnt work for some reason so just treat it as a normal question)

Other than the minimal information in the Players Handbook (page 222) is there any further information on boats and ships in 4e? In particular I need information on river barges used for cargo purpose's (probably pulled along by sturdy draft horses) as my players have acquired one and seem fixated on using it as a mobile base of operations at the moment. Any help greatly appreciated as always.
