    actions not covered by rules

    Last Post By: Jaron95

When trying to adjudicate actions not covered by the rules, I try to use the old improv process, "Yes, and...":Accepting an offer is usually accompanied by adding a new offer, often building on the earlier one; this is a process improvisers refer to

    City Building Tips

    Last Post By: Simonides

Don't. Okay, seriously though: I never 'build a city'. It is something that grows up and evolves over time from sparse details and a few random names to something richly detailed and elaborate.First of all, you need to decide how much of a role the c

When I'm feeling pressed for time, I'll print out some tiles. But I try my best to do it all by hand, I use graph paper and make 1-inch square with a ruler [Works perfectly with some types of graph paper- 4x4 squares per 1-inch tile =D ]But I never th

It's not too difficult. Running a game like this simply requires you add some new elements into the game. Add Warforged (From Eberron)into the game, and make them somewhat prominent.

Add in trains, etc. for transportation, and for magic, keep it the same. If they want to use magic, they should take a class that uses magic, not beg to let their fighter use it without multiclassing.

Apart from that, just change how you describe things. Instead of the "Decaying, broken walls lie in pieces on the floor" you say "The mechanical pieces lie on the floor, forgotten and covered in dust from years of no use".

    I hope that helps.

I Am on the same boat. the only experience in D&D ive had is in he PC game versions. I've wanted to play table since 18(26 now) but i've neveer been able to find a group. now finally i have a few people willing but they want a different campaing they say they want a steam-punk kind of era and futuristic and limited magic usage.

EX: bio-shock, mass effect, blade runner type of setting.

I am overwhelmed. Don't know where to start. I originally wanted to try some Forgotenrealm settings but they are the players and i the DM it's their adventure... Any advice or refference i can use?

Never played before, never DM'd before. Will be DMing a new group, who haven't played before, soon. Looking forward to all the thoughts and insights that I can get!
