I believe that the Monk should be able to use some of the Arts of War, almost like a fighter, and help hold the line against monsters with the fighters. I'm not saying that they need to be all COSMIC POWER type Arts of War, merely to increase the amount of damage that would be required to defeat targets that are much stronger than the Fighters themselves.
