So today I was able to get Metamorphosis Alpha in physical book form from Lulu!!!

Beats $50.00 or more on ebay for a beat copy!!  I have a PDF, but I like to have a real one too!

I never had this game back in the day, and only heard tales of it in Dragon magazine. I did get Best of Dragon vol2. I believe and it had some great MA stuff in it that took my Gamma World games in all new directions!!


Oh yeah, waking up naked in the Clone Chamber, then getting attacked my mutants with pointy sticks and metal pipe fittings!  Some of my High School buddies still haven't forgivin me for that night!!!

Any way, if you'd like to throw a spin on your GW4e game, then pick up the PDF at RPGNOW or Drivethru RPG and with the space stuff in the Legion of Gold book you could really run something pretty cool I think.

and the Planet of the Apes movies, and Logan's Run movie and TV show had a big hold on my brain.  Then I found this one day while visiting the Paperback Booksmith in my local mall. Hoping to score a new AD&D item I am bewildered by:



LORDS OF LIGHT!!!!!!  By Thundarr's SUNSWORD  my RPG prayers were answered!!! It was late '83 early '84 when this fell into my hands!  This version is by far my favorite.  And I alwys find myself drifting back to it.  Currently I'm working on updating a version of the adventure booklet to GW4e.

So we played "Steading Of the Iron King" last weekend.  Overall it went well.  The Players agreed they all enjoyed themselves and like the game.

I felt I forgot and messed up tons of stuff; ALPHA FLUX on a roll of a 1!!!, but nobody noticed and felt it had no impact on play!

OK! Looks like I have at least 2 PC's lined up maybe 3.  I will be running the adventure from the Main rulebook. 

The only GW4e I have run so far was Trouble in Freesboro, which I changed to "Trouble in Hillsboro" so it would fit into my Flori-Duh GW campaign.

I have used the "Hometown, Gamma Terra" article from Dungeon #185 to help me Gammaize my local area.  I will be setting the Iron King somewhere suitable as well.

So far I have a Hawkoid/Pyrokinetic and a radioactive/Mind coercer, with a possible Pyrokinetic/speedster as well.  If my daughter is feeling the urge she will play her Miniature/felinoid.

 

Gamma World characters have been created for some upcoming mayhem!

My daughter (9) rolled a Felinoid / Miniature. We are using the Forum Created Origins as well as all the GW book ones. Her character is called Me-mow after the cat from the cartoon Adventure Time. Which by the way is a great Gamma World Idea Font!!!


Our friend is a Felinoid / Hypercognitive, name: Sabitha. I see a Theme here....

And my Wife is using her Swarm (Fennic Foxes) / Speedster, Dash. This is the PC she made when we played through "Trouble in Freesboro".

I rolled a Multi-limbed / Empath, named Gorgon. He is a 7ft tall 4 armed Human mutant. I will keep him in reserve in case the girls get into a bad bit of Gamma trouble.

The Flori-duh campaign springs slowly back to life.  A one-shot adventure is planned for tonight. Hopefully between 2-3 players......



I will add a Game update later tonight or sunday.

Arn, Bloodbirds, Fen, Horl choo, Porkers, Soul Besh, Terls

Pc's will be looting our local Airport at low tide.

With the exception of Baldin the Dwarf from the Iron Hills who is not in the picture, these guys were my first NON-LotR adventuring party. Long ago on a dreary saturday afternoon at Grandma's house I turned on channel 4 "adventure theatre" at 2pm in the afternoon and was unforgivingly assaulted by HAWK the SLAYER!!!!!!

My world was and has been forever changed by this single thing! I own this movie on DVD, I pray to the Gods the sequel gets made! I don't care if it is worse than the most terrible thing you can think of...... because to me it will be AWESOME in its Horridness!

If you don't know of or haven't seen this movie, you should. It is that simple. I don't care if you think it sucks, you will never EVER sway me! I will create Hawk and Co. and they will eat your PC's ALIVE in any version of D&D.

So Gamma World has hit some scheduling snags with the group, and appears to be on hiatus for a bit.

Friday night my daughter said, "Dad, I want to play this!" pointing to the box on my game shelf of:

Well I broke out the minis and she created her team of Cavern busting adventurers! Now I have a pretty big selection of Heritage minis so she took about 1/2hour to choose her team.

A Knight with a bucket helm, mace & shield

A female Cleric brandishing a crucifix

A female thief with a grappling hook

An armoured elf with sword & shield

A Wizard with staff and owl familiar

As a bonus I let her choose a Henchman to carry loot! He was an unarmoured figure with a sack over his shoulder.

She rolled the stats for her team and entered the Caverns! Our game lasted a little over an hour. She battled 8 giant rats, turned Undead and escaped from the Vampire and 2 skeletons! Her thief was killed by my favorite trap! "A thousand knives spring from the walls!" Her treasure haul was two sets of jewels, one worth 20gp the other 50gp, and loose coinage of 3, 7 and 10gp each as well as a "Magic Sword". The sword was being used by the thief, however the Cleric took it upon her death from the knives!

If you never had this game or it's counter part, "The Crypt of the Sorcerer". I would say you are either too young to know about it; as it is from 1981-82 time period, or you were never LUCKY enough to get it! This game and the "Red Box" Dungeons and Dragons is what opened the doorway to imagination for me that Christmas so long ago, and I have never stopped exploring those Caverns of Doom!

It doesn't have to be the newest or advanced or coolest or whatever! it just needs to capture you in the right moment and get you to say, "Hey, I want to play that!"

We will be returning to the Caverns soon, for the Dragon's treasure hoard is too much for her to resist. "I need a new thief, first." she told me, "then I'm getting the treasure from that Dragon!"
