While I don't mind the second wind in star wars saga, the 4e healing surges are a mess though. They are simply too common and too powerful.
It seems based on the poll results that a majority of people want (at least based on the limited poll choices) self-healing.
I wonder though - is it self healing that people require or is it not-just-the-healer healing?
What if, instead of powering yourself up, everyone got some sort of minor, but scalable first-aid ability that they could use say once per day (or encounter?), but ONLY on another character?
It has always bothered me that the heal skill didn't have any appreciable effect in the game unless someone was unconcious already.
What if it turned into a 1/day (or maybe encounter) ability only usable on others, and everyone gets to use it?
The cleric and other divine types could still shine as the true healing powers in the party, but they wouldn't have to be the only one to shoulder the burden.
If kept in check power-wise, this could essentially make stabilization without divine intervention more common than in 3.x without the yo-yoing effect that can happen in 4e, but more importantly it favors cooperative play.
Just musing here.
