    Anyspell

    This is an update of anyspell from the Forgotten Realms.  It is presented here as a divinity feat with additional accompanying feats, including "mantle of spells."  The idea popped up while responding to a poster tinkering with spell absorption feats for Mystrans.  (This has little to do with that concept, which is why it ended up here.)

     

    ANYSPELL [Divinity]

    Heroic Tier

    Prerequisite: Channel Divinity class feature, must worship Mystra

    Benefit: You can invoke the power of your deity to use anyspell.

    Blessed energy flows from the Mother of All Magic. You reach out and give it shape.
    Encounter ♦ Divine
    Move Action - Personal
    Effect: Before the end of your next turn when you expend an encounter power, that encounter power has no effect and costs no action. Instead, you invoke a prepared arcane at-will power of the same level or lower once as if you had it normally.
    Special: At the end of an extended rest, choose one arcane at-will power from any class. This power is considered prepared for anyspell. You may prepare a different power after another extended rest.

    STUDIED ANYSPELL

    Heroic Tier

    Prerequisite: Channel Divinity class feature, anyspell

    Benefit: When you use the anyspell channel divinity feat power, instead of expending an encounter power you can choose to expend a daily power, which has no effect and costs no action. In its place you invoke a prepared wizard encounter power of the same level or lower once as if you had it normally.

    Special: At the end of an extended rest, you can prepare either an arcane at-will power or a wizard encounter power for use with anyspell. You must have a written copy of a wizard encounter power in front of you when you choose it. You can prepare a new at-will or encounter power after another extended rest.

     

    VERSATILE ANYSPELL

    Heroic Tier

    Prerequisite: Channel Divinity class feature, anyspell

    Benefit: Once per day you can prepare a new power for anyspell at the end of a short rest.

     

    QUICKENED ANYSPELL

    Heroic Tier

    Prerequisite: Channel Divinity class feature, anyspell

    Benefit: You can use the anyspell feat power as a minor action.

     

    MANTLE OF SPELLS

    Paragon Tier

    Prerequisite: 11th level, Channel Divinity class feature, anyspell, studied anyspell

    Benefit: You can prepare both an arcane at-will power and a wizard encounter power simultaneously.  When you use anyspell, choose whether to expend an encounter or daily power.

    Dark Sun Elemental Shaman Feats

    This is an experimental conversion (read: peach ok) of 3.x Dark Sun cleric domains into 4e heroic tier feats. These feats may help the shaman class represent elemental cleric characters on Athas.  I tried to capture something interesting about each domain, but how effective or balanced the results would be in actual game play is debatable.

    In my game, I would refluff the shaman's companion spirit as an elemental tied to the appropriate element, but not necessarily the same particular entity or spirit each encounter.  As for paraelemental clerics, I'm not sure I would use them at all but associated feats are included anyway.


    Blossom of the Sky

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Perception checks.  You can also call on your spirit companion to use blossom of the sky.

    You focus the light of the sun through your elemental spirit companion to bolster your attack.
    Encounter ♦ Primal, Radiant, Spirit
    Free Action - Personal
    Trigger:  You hit an enemy with a ranged attack.
    Effect:  Your attack gains the radiant keyword and deals Wisdom modifier additional radiant damage to all targets.
    Special:  Your spirit companion must have line of sight to at least one target of the attack

     

    Broken Sands

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  Your tracks are always considered to at least be obscured, increasing the DC to track you under normal or better conditions by 5.  You can also call on your spirit companion to use broken sands.

    Your elemental spirit companion bursts into a cloud of volcanic glass and heated sand, stinging the eyes of an enemy who tries to follow in your wake.
    Encounter ♦ Primal, Spirit
    Immediate Interrupt - Close burst 3
    Trigger: A creature you moved away from since the beginning of your last turn enters the burst.
    Target: The triggering creature
    Effect: The target takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls until the end of your next turn.  Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Clarity of the Light

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, speak with spirits class feature

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Insight and Perception checks.  If you successfully oppose a Bluff or Stealth check in conjunction with this bonus, you can deal Wisdom modifier radiant damage to a single skill check opponent within 10 squares whose roll you beat.

     

    Cold Malice

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, speak with spirits class feature

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Intimidate checks.  You also gain a +1 bonus to attack when you use a power with the cold keyword against a bloodied target.

     

    Dance of Decay

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You gain resist 5 acid.  When your spirit companion hits a creature or object which has maximum hit points, the attack deals 1 point of additional acid damage.

     

    Dead Heart

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, healing spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Religion checks.  If a creature drops to 0 hit points within 5 squares of you or your spirit companion and you use your healing spirit class feature before the end of your next turn, you can apply all the healing provided to yourself.

     

    Desert Mirage

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Bluff and Perception checks.  You and allies within 5 squares of you or your spirit companion gain a +1 bonus to defenses against illusions.

     

    Despair of the Drowned

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Endurance checks.  Additionally, you can call on your spirit companion to use despair of the drowned.

    Trigger: Your spirit companion succeeds on an opportunity attack

    Effect: The target is dazed until the end of your next turn.  Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Earthen Embrace

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You can call on your spirit companion to use earthen embrace.

    Encounter ♦ Primal, Spirit
    Immediate Interrupt - Melee spirit 1
    Trigger:  A creature adjacent to your spirit companion moves away from it
    Target:  The triggering creature
    Attack: Wisdom vs. Reflex
    Hit: The target is pulled 1 square into your spirit companion's space and knocked prone.
    Miss: The target is pulled 1 square into your spirit companion's space before resolving its move action.
    Effect: Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Fire Eyes

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Perception checks.  Additionally, you can call on your spirit companion to use fire eyes.

    Effect: For one power with the fire keyword you use before the end of your next turn, you determine line of sight from your spirit companion's square within the burst.
    Special: Daily powers are not affected.

     

    Fire from the Sky

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, healing spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You gain resist 5 lightning.  When you use your healing spirit class feature, one enemy of your choice adjacent to each recipient takes 1 lightning damage.

     

    Forged Stone

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Dungeoneering checks.  Additionally, you can call on your spirit companion to use forged stone.

    Minor Action - Close burst spirit 1
    Target: One square of difficult terrain in the burst
    Effect: The target square becomes normal terrain until the end of your next turn.  Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Fury of Storms

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You can call on your spirit companion to use fury of storms.

    In a flash of rage, you resist being moved and assert your control over tempest and storm.

    Immediate Interrupt - Close burst spirit 10
    Trigger: You or an ally in burst is pulled, pushed, or slid
    Target: You and allies in the burst
    Effect: The target can move one square less than specified by the forced movement effect.  Your spirit companion is dismissed.
    Special: If the triggering attack has the cold, thunder, or lightning keyword, movement can be reduced by two squares.

     

    Ill Winds

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You gain resist 5 poison.  You can also call on your spirit companion to use ill winds.

    Immediate Reaction - Melee spirit 1
    Trigger: Your spirit companion makes a critical hit
    Target: The creature hit by your spirit companion
    Hit: The enemy is weakened until the end of your next turn.
    Effect: Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Living Waters

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, healing spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Heal checks.  You can also forgo restoring hit points with your healing spirit power and instead restore a healing surge lost to a single creature due to starvation, thirst, or suffocation.  A creature can only benefit from this effect once per day.

     

    Meek of the Land

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Nature checks.  Your spirit companion and allies adjacent to it deal 1 additional point of damage against targets that are one or more size categories larger than they are.  If the target is prone, the additional damage is equal to your Wisdom modifier.

     

    Mountain’s Fury

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit and speak with spirits class features

    Benefit:  When you use your speak with spirits class feature, you gain an additional +1 bonus on Athletics checks.  Additionally, you can call on your spirit companion to use mountain’s fury.

    Your elemental spirit companion plunges into the earth, only to erupt a moment later in a burst of stone and fire.
    Encounter ♦ Fire, Primal, Spirit
    Immediate Interrupt - Close burst spirit 10
    Trigger: A creature bull rushes or charges you or an ally in the burst
    Target: The triggering enemy
    Attack: Wisdom vs. Reflex
    Hit: Wisdom modifier fire damage and every square the target moves through on this turn is considered difficult terrain
    Miss: Wisdom modifier fire damage.
    Effect: Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Refreshing Storms

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You can call on your spirit companion to use refreshing storms.

    Ushered in by your elemental spirit companion, magical storms wash through the area to awaken unconscious allies.
    Encounter ♦ Healing, Primal
    Free Action - Close burst 20
    Target: All allies in the burst with 0 or fewer hit points
    Effect: The target gains Wisdom modifier hit points and concealment until the end of your next turn.  Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Rolling Thunder

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You can call on your spirit companion to use rolling thunder.

    Your elemental spirit companion darkens into a rumbling storm cloud before exploding with a sharp peal of thunder.

    Minor Action - Close burst spirit 1
    Target: One enemy in the burst
    Attack: Wisdom vs. Fortitude
    Hit: Wisdom modifier thunder damage and you slide the target one square.
    Effect: All enemies in the burst are deafened (save ends).  Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Smoldering Spirit

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit: You gain resist 5 fire.  Additionally, you can call on your spirit companion to use smoldering spirit.

    Trigger: You are hit by an attack
    Effect: You gain resist 5 cold and a +1 bonus to the defense targeted by the triggering attack until the end of your next turn. Your spirit companion is dismissed.

     

    Soul Slayer

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You can call on your spirit companion to use soul slayer.

    Your elemental spirit companion lashes out like a whip of darkly glittering silt, tearing at your enemy’s soul through the wound you inflict.
    Encounter ♦ Necrotic, Primal, Spirit
    Immediate Interrupt - Close burst spirit 5
    Trigger: You or an ally in the burst bloodies a creature
    Target: The bloodied creature
    Effect: The attack gains the necrotic keyword and deals Wisdom modifier additional necrotic damage.

     

    Wrath of the Fire Lord

    Prerequisite:  Shaman, companion spirit class feature

    Benefit:  You gain a +1 bonus to damage when you use a power with the fire keyword against an enemy that has attacked your spirit companion.
