|Slot||Description||Current Entry||Link and Status|
|C1||Black blight spell||Doom Herald|
Creature - Horror
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, blight target creature.
Art: A withered abomination stands over a blighted, dying elf.
|12/29-11am: This card is one of the only ones locked in at this stage, which means I'd love to hear art suggestions.|
|C2||Assault creature, white?||Veteran Spearman|
Creature - Human Warrior
Assault - Whenever you attack with three or more creatures, CARDNAME gets +1/+1 and gains first strike until end of turn.
Art: A scarred warrior leans against his spear- behind stands two younger kinsmen, battle-ready.
|12/30-5:30pm: Spearman proves the stronger choice- perfectly functional when not assaulting. Click for comments.|
|C3||Requiem spell||Rise from Ruin|
Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
Requiem- If a creature was put into the graveyard from the battlefield this turn, you may return up to one other target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
Art: Two ghostly spirits rise from their slain bodies on the battlefield.
|1/2 12pm: Wording issue solved. Back to considering art. Suggestions?|
|C4||Scry spell||Seeker's Wings|
Enchanted creature has flying and has "Whenever this creature deals damage to an opponent, scry 1."
Art: A merfolk rises high above the ocean on magic wings and surveys the horizon.
|1/2 6pm: There's been some shifting around to make these last few slots work (see the U1 discussion). I like these two because they let blue subtly play into assault and don't oversaturate us with creatures. I would love suggestions for better names.|
Merfolk Studier by Matthew Watkins
Creature - Merfolk Wizard
2, Sacrifice CARDNAME: Draw a card.
Art: A merfolk elder meditates as blight consumes the temple around him.
|1/2 6pm: If we go with one of the scry/fly auras above, then this should probably be the blue forsaker, just to be certain blue feels fully engaged in the wider themes. Comments/art ideas?|
|C6||Assault enabler||Vidrheim Huntmaster|
by shwcat and Spiritmongrel
Creature - Elf Warrior
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield.
Art: An elven ranger in the taiga with a giant wolf at his side.
Creature - Wolf
When CARDNAME is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, you may search your library for up to three cards named CARDNAME, reveal them, put them into your hand, then shuffle your library.
|1/2 7:30pm: I've been fairly set on Dude+Wolf for this slot, but Toby or Not Toby brings up an interesting point about how we might have ended up low on death triggers (C7 & R1 have them, but they're slightly obscured), so maybe we should bring in Astral Wolf after all. Thoughts?|
|C7||Non-creature, artifact?||Sacred Spear|
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature gets +1/+0.
When equipped creature is put into a graveyard, CARDNAME deals 1 damage to target player.
Equip - 1
Art: A long spear covered with glowing runes.
|1/2 12pm: Discussion link.|
|C8||Blight, non-black, non-creatures||Wilt Away|
Blight target artifact or enchantment.
Art: Blight envelopes a stone circle, the elf (from Doom Herald) lies behind, a decayed husk.
|C9||Red spell||Pyre Shot|
by Havelock Vetinari
CARDNAME deals 2 damage to target creature or player.
Requiem - If a creature was put into a graveyard from play this turn, CARDNAME deals 4 damage to that creature or player instead.
Art: Flames rise from a funeral pyre, twisting into a spike.
|1/2 6pm: This is the last puzzle piece. It needs to be a red spell. Into the Catapults! is proving tricky for common, but we might be able to fit it. Otherwise, Pyre Shot will probably go here. Happy to hear discussion or more ideas.|
Creature - Shapeshifter Spirit
Play with the top card of your library revealed.
As long as the top card of your library isn't a land card, CARDNAME's power and toughness are each equal to that card's converted mana cost.
Art:A wispy spirit walks between praying oracles in a temple.
|1/2 2pm: I'm moving this card tentatively into the slot so we have something here to maneuver around. Still open to other suggestions. Ideas, suggestions, comments.|
|U2||Something white||Heartsinger Valkyrie|
Creature - Angel Warrior
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, return a creature you control to its owner's hand.
Art: A winged Valkyrie descends, reaching down to lift a wounded warrior from a pitched battle.
|1/2- 8pm: Obsessive, little question, but does it feel weird that all these uncommons cost 4 and both the rares cost 6? Discussion page.|
Untap target creature and blight it. You gain control of it until end of turn. It gains haste until end of turn.
Art: Closeup of a warrior's rage-induced face, eyes blackened, blighted veins spreading across her temples.
|1/2-1pm: Looking like Blight Delirium. Comments? Art Suggestions?|
|R1||Big Blight||Maltor, the Betrayer|
Variation on Scott's design
Legendary Creature - Demon
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield or is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, blight all other creatures.
Art: A giant, winged demon eclipses the sun, surrounded by withered husks of the blighted.
|1/2-1am: There's still a little doubt for me whether we're at the most attractive cost/p/t combo, but I'm very happy with Scott's demon. Discussion page.|
|R2||Big assaulter||Wasteland Warlord|
by metaghost/Billy Moreno/with tweaks from the board
Creature - Giant Warrior
Haste, Double strike
Assault — Whenever you attack with three or more creatures, if it's the first combat phase, untap all creatures you control. After this phase, you get an additional combat phase.
Art: A giant, wielding two axes, leads a bloodsoaked horde.
|1/2-1am: The remaining questions: Is this rare or mythic? Is this our foil or the demon? Click for discussion.|
Art: Majestic forest with trees at the periphery succumbing to blight.
|1/2-1am: A forest gives us the strongest space to demonstrate a land slowly succumbing to blight. art suggestions.|
|Token||4/4 blue Giant|
Art: A frost giant
|1/2-1am: Giants feature prominently in Norse mythology, but not in our pack. They aren't unique to Wodotha, but they're generally underutilized and I'd be intrigued to know what card could produce them. Entirely open to other suggestions.|
