White Analysis | Blue Analysis | Black Analysis | Red Analysis | Green Analysis Other Analysis Red AnalysisNote that * means the rarity was shifted from set to set. So, for example, if you see a card in the Common Table with *, it means it isn’t a Common. I'll explain the specifics for these after each table. RED COMMON TABLE
Tectonic Rift is Uncommon but I think these LD spells with a bonus could be Common or Uncommon. It just depends on the effect of the bonus on Limited. Ember Hauler is powerful and Uncommon is appropriate. This card slot could be either Common or Uncommon depending on the power level, but Common seemed to be preferred. RED UNCOMMON TABLE

CARD TYPE ANALYSIS 20 M10 Commons Creature: 9 Sorcery: 5 Enchantment: 1 Instant: 5 20 M11 Commons Creature: 10 Sorcery: 3 Enchantment: 1 Instant: 6 20 M12 Commons Creature: 11 Sorcery: 2 Enchantment: 2 Instant: 5 So notice how with each set progression Red adds more creatures and instants. And it decreases its number of sorceries (while retaining the same number of Commons.) Bloodthirst may have boosted the number of creatures higher than normal. I think 10 or 11 should be the standard we shoot for. COMMON KEYWORDS M10: Haste, First strike M11: Haste, Flying, First strike, Mountainwalk M12: Haste, Bloodthirst, First strike, and Defender Each set has consistently used the Red common slots to teach how haste and first strike work. First strike is also showcased in White common for each set, but this is the only chance players have to see haste at that rarity. Randomly each set also had Red use some other keyword, but nothing we should need to follow. 10 M10 Uncommons Creature: 6 Sorcery: 3 Instant: 1 9 M11 Uncommons Creature: 5 Sorcery: 2 Enchantment: 1 Instant: 1 9 M12 Commons Creature: 4 Sorcery: 3 Enchantment: 1 Instant: 1 Interesting how the amount of creatures decreases from set to set. Less than half of the M12 Uncommons are creatures. Hmmm… Seems like Uncommon is where Red sticks most of its sorceries. Also, note that there are enchantments in two of the sets, so I guess Red is friendly for enchantment design. UNCOMMON KEYWORDS M10: Haste, Flying, Defender M11: Flying M12: Haste, Bloodthirst, Flying More flying and haste, but no first strike, double strike or more complicated keywords. I am a little surprised. You could count “can’t be countered” which both M11 and M12 have with Combust. 9 M10 Rare Creature: 6 Sorcery: 2 Enchantment:1 9 M11 Rare Creature: 5 Sorcery: 1 Enchantment: 2 Instant:1 8 M11 Rare Creature: 4 Sorcery: 1 Enchantment: 2 Instant: 1 Look at all the enchantments! Man, Red really loves enchantments at all rarities. I see that Red is skewing towards fewer Rare creatures and more spells, but really that’s probably because there are creatures in the mythic slot. RARE/MYTHIC RARE KEYWORDSM10: Trample, haste, flying, flashM11: Flying, hasteM12: Flying, haste, bloodthirst Once again, very little is done to add Keyword complexity at Rare and Mythic Rare. M10 had trample and flash, both of which I am a fan of for Red. But it seems like flavor is driving the keywords Red gets in these slots. NEW CARDS ART AND RARITIES: M10 has 41 cards and 14 of them were new cards. Most of them are crap or designed for limited. 7 cards were first time reprints. 6 reprints got new art. 2 cards were bumped up to Mythic Rare. Again, a majority of them are higher rarity card, but much fewer have any constructed potential. 6 cards are reprinted for the first time, however four of them are very recent reprints. 2 cards got new art. 1 card had its rarity changed. Blood Ogre (C) Bonebreaker Giant (C) Chandra’s Phoenix (R) Chandra, the Firebrand (MR) Circle of Flame (U) Crimson Mage (U) Furyborn Hellkite (MR) Goblin Bangchuckers (U) Goblin Fireslinger (C) Gorehorn Minotaurs (C) Scrambleverse (R) Stormblood Berserkers (U) Tectonic Rift (U) Wall of Torches (C) Warstorm Surge (R) Volcanic Dragon got new art. Flameblast Dragon (R) got its first reprinting since Shards of Alara. Goblin Arsonist (C) got its first reprinting since Rise of the Eldrazi. Goblin Grenade (U) got its first reprinting since Fallen Empires and new art and a bump up to Uncommon. Goblin War Paint (C) got its first reprinting since Zendikar. Grim Lavamancer (R) got its first reprinting since Torment. Slaughter Cry (C) got its first reprinting since Zendikar. Overall we should expect anywhere between 14-21 new cards. Also, 1 or 2 new pieces of art for reprints which should be saved for marquee cards. And we should expect about a half dozen first time reprints.
