Finals Challenge 5 is up

For those of you who enjoyed my Tweeted "Night before Christmas", as well as those who missed it, I've made a page for the complete poem, enjoy.

Malgareth, the UnderPrison

A subterranian prison that was abandoned by the world above

Hello, my name is Scott Van Essen, and I am thrilled to have made it to the finals of GDS2. To learn a little more about me, you can read my intro page on the mothership as well as all of my essay questions. You can also look back in time to read about me during the first Great Designer Search

Overview

Malgareth is a gigantic continent-sized underground cavern where the surface world has sequestered all of their dangerous criminals and undesirables. In addition to the Prisoners interred there, there are the ever-vigilant Watchers dedicating their lives to keeping the Prisoners from ever escaping to the surface, and creeping out of the cracks are the Natives, fighting eternally to reclaim their home. A century ago, all contact with the upperworld stopped, the Watchers lost their support. Now, the Prisoners are rising up, trying to escape, the Natives are trying to drive everybody out, and the Watchers are holding on by a thread.

Hubs

I have divided the primary content of my wiki into three hubs for ease of navigation:

• The Creative Hub - For greater detail on the creative background and construction of the world.
  
• The Mechanics Hub - For the overall mechanical design of the world and links to specific mechanics and card designs, as well as design submissions you have that aren't related to a specific design challenge.
  
• The Submission Hub - For a history of my past submissions, and the active workspace for my current submission.
  

Contributions

I welcome all contributions at all times, whether they be mechanic ideas, creative suggestions, or card designs. In addition to specific requests and general comments, I have several standing needs, which I have described on my Needs Page.

I have designated pages for all areas of contribution throughout my three hubs (creative, mechanics, and submissions). Since everybody can modify the wiki, I have the following requests to minimize confusion:

• I have created community contribution pages wherever I have requested or expect feedback. Please put all suggestions, comments and card designs in one of these pages. This is both so I can find it and to minimize confusion.
• If you have contributions for which there is not an appropriate community page, please put them in the discussion page of the relevant primary page. I will create additional community pages as needed

Note that in order to make edits to a page, you will need to create a user account, and then click Join Group in the box on the left.

I will be updating my wiki regularly for as long as I'm in this competition, so please check back here soon at often for more content and more opportunities to contribute.
