In a previous blog I talked about why you should play Magic: The Gathering Online. If you don't remember, it's right here.

I talked about how you can play What you want, when you want, how you want. I also mentioned the Community Cup. This isn't meant to be a recap as there is PLENTY of coverage here.

I'm here to tell you how you can experience an amazing week just by doing what you love. Playing Magic.

It's no secret that there are a ton of people who play Magic: Online, but just playing isn't enough to get an invite. Like any game you're passionate about you have to be active within the community. You have to contribute to the discussion; you have to become a leader. Be willing to help out a "n00b" who has questions.

 

 

 

Enigma had only been playing Magic Online for about a year. He won events, and was nominated by his peers to be considered as a team member. After Wizards made their selection he was flown out to Renton, WA all the way from Austria! Not only played his first ever paper Magic game, but also tried Mt. Dew for the very first time! (Spoiler: He liked both.)

Every community needs people to step up and become leaders, and those leaders will reap the rewards.

 

 

 

Practice makes perfect. Perfect will get you recognized by the community. Getting recognized by the community gets you nominated to be considered for the Community Cup. You can see where I'm going with this.

The Magic Online Community Cup is fast approaching and some of you might be asking yourself:

This week, June 7th through the 11th, is the 2010 Magic Online Community Cup Challenge, where nine players from the Magic Online community (including myself) will be traveling to Wizards of the Coast headquarters in Renton, Washington to test our skills against the folks who actually make the game.

If we win, and beat out the Wizards team, every player who has shown their support for our team will be receiving a free Mirrodin-block draft set in Magic Online, along with an opportunity to use it. If we lose...they all get a foil Sorrow's Path . (Let's hope for the former.)

In addition to the coverage provided by the other participants and on Magicthegathering.com, I'll be taking notes, posting blogs, and twittering about the event over the course of the week, so make sure to follow along, watch the games, and support your community!
