Can we nominate people that went to the Community Cup last year?
If so I would like to nominate Erik "Hamtastic" Friborg to go again. I think he did an excellent job of covering it last time.

This is really a mix of good qualities and advice for those chosen:
All members should be willing and able to put some time and effort for practice, especially with the constructed decks. Hopefully there will be more lead time so the prep isn't quite to frenetic as last year, but all need the time to get familiar with their decks. This shouldn't generally be a problem since we're all in the community because we like playing Magic, but don't underestimate the time needed.
There should be at least a couple really good deck constructionists on the team. Not everyone needs to be constructed experts, but there should be a couple that have both the deckbuilding skills and the up-to-date experience to understand the current metagame. Even though CCC formats can be unusual, knowing the metagame of similar formats provides a starting point.
While the community was INVALUABLE last year in getting the decks together, at some point the team needs to take control over the final tweaks to the decklists. Try to have decklists finalized several days before the cup starts. At the very least, the decks need to be thoroughly tested against each other deck the community builds.
Don't get locked in to the eight deck types too early and then try to tweak your way to the best configuration. Don't be afraid to blow up several decks early on if you can take the pieces and make a better archetype.
Playtesting against non-CCC participants is vital, since CCC participants can't always be on at the same time. So I encourage everyone to help out by buliding as many of the decks on your own as you can, or even just bring something in the closest format, even if it is a little more powerful.

Thanks Arch, that means a ton! I'd love to go back if I had a chance. In addtion to what bubba mentioned, I'd advocate the following things: In general, I think that people attending need to cover a few different mediums, such as podcasters as well as writers and community people. Also, I'd have to recommend that they be someway, somehow already tied to MTGO. Maybe not as all in as myself or bubba; but someone that will continue to log in after the events have ended and already has an MTGO account.

MTGKaioshin.
Sure he hasn't been on since the boards change, but nonetheless WotC owes him.
Big time.
And it just might get him back on.
I don't want to play in it, but I sure would like to be able to watch IN PERSON this time. Please?
Thank you, Erik.

Have events for the next CC been finalized yet? There could be many improvements over last year's structure (where community involvement was restricted to just posting decklists in the forums).

What kind of person... Hmm. Very community minded, a talented deck builder and decent deck pilot. There are people whose names will always be associated with the fringe formats they've championed, such as Danger and Spikeboy last time around. There are people who have created great works for the community such as Hammy, Bubba and 'Gona. We need a good balance, but above all the cup, and specifically retaining it for the community, needs to matter to them. We don't wan people who will just phone it in.

I am suggesting AJ Impy.
He's an active member of the community and his devotion to Tribal Wars is known by many. Last year there were players representing Pauper and Classic. Why not Tribal Wars this time? And AJ is also a decent deck builder; most of the time I ask his opinion when I need some advise regarding deck building.
So my vote, if I have any, goes to AJ Impy.
Thanks. LE

I nominate ProtossX. Because I want to see if he rages out in person as hilariously as he does on the fourms.

In general, I think that people attending need to cover a few different mediums, such as podcasters as well as writers and community people.
I guess so. I don't think they (WoTC) spefically left out any last time, or at least didn't try not to.
Also, I'd have to recommend that they be someway, somehow already tied to MTGO. Maybe not as all in as myself or bubba; but someone that will continue to log in after the events have ended and already has an MTGO account.
Agreed 100% here. The person should be currently active in MTGO. Not just Magic, but MTGO in particular.
Also, and this is most unfortunate, but I strongly feel that the people in question are not professionally related to Magic. That is, if you own/operate a venue selling WoTC mechandise, that is a no-no for invites. it doesn't seem right to send people who make s business out of creating a community - it should be for people for whom creating a community is a labour of love only. Sadly this invalidates two people whom I'd really think do a lot for the community.
