We collect a new crew in Melvaunt, expecting to pay 500 g.p. per month to keep the salary of the whole bunch paid up. Our NPC first mate will be in charge when we're off the ship - his name is Cyrc (pronounced "Kirk" - duh). The spellcaster we hire is named Booth; we're pretty vague on the type of spellcaster he is. We expect it will cost 25,000 g.p. to repair the armor cladding on the ship, but we can put that off. We also spend 1,400 g.p. on a pair of Sending scrolls so that we can communicate back and forth with the boat. Booth has one and the party has the other in the bag of holding. NOTE: these will not work if we're on a different plane.
We put off in our new ship, and lo, the launch was glorious. We expect a sailing trip of 2-3 weeks to get across to Mulmaster, but after 10 days the moon will be full and we can get there with warp engines. We scry on Mulmaster and find that the docks are on fire. Immediately, we all look and Averron, and he shrugs his shoulders and says, "There is no way I could have done this."
We warp in a mile from the port and dispatch an away team. We use a water walking spell to get to the port. (Seriously? No one thought to buy a dinghy? Crap!) Many of the boats of Mulmaster have pulled away from the dock and we learn from some of the other sailors that the town is under attack by giants. They are startled that we seem to be acting like Jesus.
It's clear that the town has been attacked numerous times, and the Zents have dodged any action. We skirt the town then pick a fight with a stone giant and a few skullcrusher ogres. Our little battle goes well, but then Raven remembers - we're supposed to find Jarmaxx! Raven disguises himself as a Zent and Sharky fishes for information. Yep, Jarmaxx is back at Gulgar's old pad, but possibly on another plane.
So the away team marches from Mulmaster to Gulgar's fortress. We contact the ship and have Scotty - or Sulu, or whatever - move it to a safer place. ... We discover there are tracks here from the giants who marched back and forth on their assault. At the fortress, there's a bonfire and orcs celebrating. We huddle - what do we want to do? Fight our way in, killing a horde of ogres and orcs? Or try sneaking? And in one of those VERY rare instances of common sense (because we only have 4 PCs), we try the sneaking route. Sharky breaks out some invisibility potions, and we get all the way through the fort, down the stairs and further down to sub-level four.
In the wet, noisy caves below the fortress, Averron meets a couple of hill giants. Raven pulls one out of the room with his usual trickery, and we open up some whoop ass on the giant. That is where we end.
