Hello there! Welcome (and thanks) for reading my first blog on here! The names Liam, im a law student from Australia (first year) and just recently discovered Magic: The Gathering. Ive done a fair bit of gaming over my few years, but have mostly been a tabletop gamer (Blood Bowl, Warhammer 20k, Warhammer Fantasy, Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game), with a few card games thrown in (Yu-Gi-Oh!, Duel Masters and Pokemon). However Magic is my first real 'go' at playing a card game 'seriously'.
So how am i going so far?
Well at the moment i just started playing as of yesterday :P
I had a practice game in my local store (Good Games Geelong) with a small 30 card deck (i won woo!). I took a shining to the Blue and White cards, as the guy that showed me how to play (Paul) sold them to me, saying that Blue were 'tricky and decpetive' sort of cards, and White was about life. Thats not to say they are the only decks Ill play, as i do have an interest in Black as well. Props to Paul, as it was really enjoyable to play him, and he explained the game really well. Id definitely recommend that any players looking to get into the game should head into their local store for a game, as it was a great introduction to the game.
I bought the intro Blue deck, and the Event Blue deck (both for Core 2012). And played a few games against my friends deck Green intro deck (Core 2012). I won the first game then lost the next 3. The first two games of the 3 i just couldnt draw anything but land (which happens, especially since our decks were probably not as shuffled as they should be yet) and the 3rd was a really good close game, in which i probably made a few mistakes, but ah well 
.
So ive really enjoyed my first little journey into Magic, and plan to expand on that pretty soon! I plan on trying to hit up either a draft night or construct night at Good Games Geelong in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for that!
