I was reading through this adventure and I have a couple questions about a treasure mentioned in the conclusion.

Spoiler: Show

Torm's Battle Acumen (level 3) is mentioned as a reward but does not appear in the treasure bundles. Is it actually available as a treasure bundle selection?

The functionality of this boon is also not outlined in the adventure, nor in the online compendium. If it is an actual available award, what is it? I suspect it's a reflavored "Bane's Battle Acumen".

I missed that earlier reference in the text. That boon was removed and replaced with the armor of sacrifice treasure bundle. The boon is a lie.

out of curiosity why did you include a mechanic in a fight that would make all non-palidan defenders worthless? (making it so you cant take OA's and interupts)

it would just have been easier to stun all defenders for the encounter, same effect but then they can go get a drink or someting and not have the illusion that they can do something meaningfull
Insulting someones grammar on a forum is like losing to someone in a drag race and saying they were cheating by having racing stripes.

Not only do the two things not relate to each other (the logic behind the person's position, and their grammar) but you sound like an idiot for saying it (and you should, because its really stupid )

Can you be more specific? I can't recall (or find) the mechanic you are referring to. All of the monsters are fairly standard out of the book, and I don't remember any new mechanics created by the author saying defenders can't take OAs or use interrupts.

encounter 11, word of power
No Defense
When Karadrach and his allies make an attack, the target cannot
benefit from power bonuses to defenses and no free, immediate, or
opportunity action can be triggered by the attack.

while yes you can take the word down it wont stay down, so its not worth doing most of the time for the party, even then the way 4e is setup unless a rune will outright kill the party or make the party do less damage it wont be done.

palidan's work fine, but no other defender can do ANYTHING, to stop or hinder attacks.

it seams like the authur just does not like defenders, the fights already are on maps so large, and against foes so large that defending is somewhere between hard and impossible anyway. this mechanic means that the role that has the hardest time staying relivent is told, they need not apply for this fight. it is very much like kicking a guy when he is down.

I think you must be speaking about a different adventure. There is no such creature or power in ELTU4-1 Born by Fiends. Also, the adventure only has six encounters if you count the Conclusion.

Perhaps you are referring to EPIC4-1 Shooting the Moon? If so, you mean to be posting in this thread:  community.wizards.com/lfr/go/thread/view...

I encourage you to try ELTU4-1 and post any thoughts to this thread. Happy gaming and thank you for playing Living Forgotten Realms.

Played this one on Saturday and enjoyed it immensely.

While the interactions with the trio of local meta-orgs can be a bit cumbersome at times (since they all show up, no matter what, rather than just talking to current or potential members), I liked the fact that they contributed to the story and aided the characters in some way.

Additional kudos on the design of the combats.
Nice mix of abilities, challenges, and so on. Not too hard and not too easy.

Spoiler: Show

Although when you have two druids and an invoker in that final fight, the two swarms don't stand much of a chance - both were stunned before they acted by the invoker and hit with wall of thorns and other nastiness by the druids.

Our only real issue was that the module did not address what happens when the party realizes the necklaces are trouble before heading out to meet the incoming load and uses stealth, misdirection, and subterfuge to steal Albom's from him.
Since it was a gift, would he simply replace it with one of the freebies that the other citizens have? Or, once he's not under its direct influence, would he be more 'himself'?

A lesser issue is our growing expectation that the people of Elturel would be a little more cautious, even suspicious. I mean, so much has gone badly for them over the last two years that it's surprising how open they are to obviously questionable activity or gifts or similar.
Far too trusting.

Cheers.

I don't understanding the timing in this module, and I'm supposed to run it tonight so I'd appreciate some help from those who have run or played it.

Spoiler: Show
Albom hires the adventurers to intercept and escort the caravan that's bringing supplies to build the water clock, so he can finish it on time. The PC's go there, the caravan is attacked, and Bellavous tells them they have to rush back to get to the festival before the clock is activated. I'm really confused. If the clock was ready to be activated, why did they need this shipment? Why are the PC's out there at all? As I was reading it, for a second I thought Albom was going to turn out to be behind it all, sending the PC's on a wild goose chase, but nothing of the sort in the conclusion. Can someone shed light on this mystery?

I think what's going on is the following:
Albom is actually trying to make the clock and it is supposed to do something spectacular.
Renseti is subtly making Albom make minor changes to it that Albom is not aware of to make it do something it isn't supposed to do.
Albom is missing certain elements to do the spectacular thing, but the clock still works as a clock and more importantly, works in a way that can trigger the evil.
Albom therefore sends the PCs out to get the supplies, they return, but the clock hits the appointed moment of the ritual(not the celebration) and therefore the evil gets released.
