With the keynote at Gencon suggesting a 2014 Gencon debut of D&D Next, does this mean LFR will end at Origins in 2014?

With two years left, I'm much more hopeful we'll get to see the completion of the EPIC campaign arc. Can't wait to see what tortures you'll be releasing on Faerun, Mickey.

Really, 2014? I assumed that D&D Next would be released sometime in 2013.
That gives LFR more time than I expected to finish the storyline and tie up loose ends.

I am not sure the WotC has revealed what the rollout date will be; Mike Mearls statement in the keynote address at Gencon (Thursday night) was given the amount of work remaining to be done and their current progress, he estimates two more years is needed. His statement suggests, if nothing changes, rollout of D&D Next might be at Gencon 2014 (at least no sooner), but I would not take that as a hard and fast announcement. He emphasized WotC really wanted to get it right.
After having played the D&D Next playtest at Gencon on Sunday, my thought is a large part of the concern is focused on can WotC really produce a design that rolls most of the gamer market back into D&D. I am not sure if that is achievable, but I am personally willing to play the D&D Next version at this point.

I will publicly declare, at risk of message board embarassment, that I believe D&D Next will be for sale at Gen Con 2013 (not 2014).
mearls might want two years to get it right. He's not going to get two years.

Say what you want but Wizards has a definite plan in mind as to when to roll out 5th edition and it is NOT next year. First, they are releasing 6 novels set in the REALMS next year that will involve a major war and redefine them yet again. These books are spread around all year not only in the first half. Second, Wizards will be releasing 2 adventure modules (yes adventures) that will have survey questions just like LFR that Mearls promises will directly affect the REALMS in D&D 5th ed. You may think that there could be a generic setting being sent out first but that is not the case. Toril will be the official first setting of D&D Next.

I'll admit, I'm usually the gentlemanly soul of cynicism, but I think we're safe for next year. I'll make no bets for anytime January or later in 2014, of course.

I'm a little confused about the 2 FR adventures that will be released with questionaires, what edition will they be for? Will they be 4e? Or 5e playtest adventures? Or maybe 2e/3e since they are trying to appeal to that crowd? Or maybe they will be edition agnostic?

At one of the seminars, that question was asked of James Wyatt. He hestitated for the longest time, and then said something like: "We want as many people to play it as possible."
