So is there a time table or anything in the works for new Epic Level adventures.  Our local gaming group has finished Shooting the Moon and we are all at 25th level after years of playing.  What is on the coming horizon?

As for the Meta-Org guide, hasn't 14 and a half months been enough time to finish/add to this guide?  The next verzion should have been completed (according to the LFR site) by the first half of 2012.  I realize that everyone is prepping for 5E, but it will be some time before that hits the streets so shouldn't some time be devoted to creating/finishing 4E Epic adventures and the Meta-Org guide.

There hasn't been an update to this group since June 9th.  I thought the emphasis on LFR was the "Living" part.  It seems it is closer to flat lining at this point so I am pulling out the paddles to shock everyone back life and get some answers.

The plan has been for 3 epic adventures per year, with the 10th and final adventure (for level 30) premiering at DDXP 2014. We're currently in the middle of convention season (Origins & Gen Con), so I'd look towards after the conventions for the next installment, and before year's end for the finale to this year's trilogy.

Following Gencon, I expect to see a Global Admin post a blog announcing the addition of the Gencon LFR adventures to the adventure download page.  Five of the seven LFR adventures for Gencon have been completed and released to the DMs for Gencon, and the remaining two should be cleaned up soon.  A similar response happens around Origins and DDXP (Winter Fantasy) so this should not be surprising.

I cannot explain why the LFR Meta Org Guide has not been updated.

...errgggh

Whats up with the epics? Epic 4-2 was due out Memorial day and the playtest groups around here say it was damn near complete way before then. Now its nearly Labor Day and 4-3 should be out with  5-1 deep in the works for DDXP/WF timing....

On the meta-org guide, there are several mods out there that grant access to and interact with orgs that dont exist. Whats the hold-up? How long does it take to write up a 1/2 column of fluff and pick purchase access to a handful of heroic uncommons?

The short answer is:

As the second part of the second trilogy, EPIC4-2 sets the stage for EPIC4-3, and there are a number of dependencies between the two. As such, we are in the process of making some final decisions about EPIC4-3 which impact the content of EPIC4-2. We anticipate that both EPIC4-2 and EPIC4-3 will be released with ample time to play both adventures before DDXP/WF.

We appreciate everyone's patience in giving us the additional time needed to pull together top-notch epic adventures. Thanks for understanding.

I know this is a volunteer thing now, but I am on(was on) 3 tables that have run all the way through the epics, and not all at the same time.  The horrible release schedule has cost us so many players that we have gone from 4 tables twice a week to 1 on wednesday and barely 2 tables on sunday. None of these tables are playing lfr anymore as every player on the tables still left has at least 1, but more likely 2 or 3 characters waiting on the new epic.

Many of the players have completely given up on lfr, but a few of us have been holding out hope. An "ample time to play both before the D&D Experience" feels a lot like the wait we had for epic 3-3.  While I'm sure you're doing the best you can with what you were given, those with hope may not have any left when I relay this news at the game tonight.

Epic has always been 3 modules a year, with its level 30 conclusion in January of 2014. It's doesn't have set dates for any adventure other than the January kickoff. I'd love to just go "January, May, September" but the reality is that convention season is right in the middle of that, and without a compelling "it must be done NOW for a convention" it's harder to get folks to stick to a set date. And frankly, that's fine. We've got plenty of time. There are plenty of people who haven't played epic3-2 or 3-3 yet, nevermind 4-1.

It's just not really possible to support a multiple times a week campaign with Epic alone.  There just aren't that many adventures. On the plus side, such a group should in fact easily get a chance to play through all of the epics. Multiple times, even, before DDXP.

It also may be worth considering heavy DME / running alternate adventures, etc with those characters if folks do want to play that much.

It's also worth noting that the EPIC events are tied to events in the rest of the campaign, so if your players have given up playing new releases in the Heroic and Paragon tiers, they are missing plot points that they might find enjoyable when they see the references in later EPIC adventures.

As Keith points out, even if we released EPIC4-2 and EPIC4-3 tomorrow, you'd be running into the same problem in November, and again in February.

If people are interested in playing LFR, try to steer them towards some of the newer releases. If your players are really only interested in epic play, then running alternative adventures for fun is an option. (Some of the EPIC adventures have tips for additional side-quests the PCs can do to enhance the main plot.)

I would happy just to see some non-draft versions of the campaign documents (CCG and Meta-Org Guide).

Interesting. Does this mean the Year 4/5 epics will have connections to Year 4/5 adventures?
Examples include the recent Calimshan series and some of the Battle Interactive adventures.

If yes, then that helps keep the Epics connected, however none of the characters playing
Epic are going to have the story awards from all the Year 3/4 heroic/paragon adventures.

All of the Epic players reached Epic at the end of Year 2 and have all those story awards.
Anyone newly arriving at Epic should just play the key old adventures to get up to speed.

Anyone know anyone playing Epic who has only played Year 3/4 adventures to get there?
