I too was in Laurel on Saturday, and I also had a good time. Unfortunately, I had to leave right before that Special Mission 5 (which my Diplomacy-focused fighter would have participated in), but it sounds like it succeeded even without him.

I want to give props to the organizers and those who acted between the missions. Those were some awesome hats right there.

I only got to play in the first four missions.  The first three missions (place the X) were fun as long as you weren't the best at placing the X, in which case you were spending roughly 75% of your actions doing a skill challenge while your allies hit the enemies. Our DM also seemed to have hot dice when it came to the push/prone powers. As a fighter, seeing that three or four times meant that I was doing a lot of standing and charging. Fortunately, I was doing a lot of critting as well. I think I had five or six by the time I left.

I was a little upset by the fourth mission's mechanics - it seemed like the best thing our group could have done was to run off the map, which diluted the fun of finally defeating the enemies.

I was at Herid_Fel's table, and my Battlemind took over for him at the Ghost Diplomacy mission, she perfomed adequately. =p

I liked the style of Special Mission in this BI compared to the other BIs. What I did not like, however, was that *every* SM was the exact same, with different flavoring. I appreciate that it's easier to prep this way, but.../shrug

Herid and I share the same feeling about the "not-fun" encounter, as the best solution is definately anti-heroic.

Overall, I think BIs need to work on a way for tables to influence others more. The Spellguard BI had that with the SMs making enemy actions different once beaten.  I don't have an easy answer/solution for this, personally.  Adding some extra minions to every table until the first team beat a "boss" in an encounter, then all minions flee the battle...might work, dunno.

I'm running a Slot 0 of this Sunday for the folks who will be DMing this event at a local upcoming con. I have a question about encounter 6, the answer to which will have a profound affect on the difficulty of the encounter, so I want to make sure I'm aligned with the author's intent.

Spoiler: Show

The WeavePasha gives your group crystals, which are aligned to the various elements. Now, that means that either:

A) All PC's care attuned to the crystals, giving them all resistance which becomes vulnerability as appropriate nodes are disabled, and anyone can disable any adjacent node

or

B) The PC's are presented with the crystals and must decide who is carrying each. Only the PC carrying an appropriate crystal gains the resistance/vulnerability, and only the PC carrying an appropriate crystal can disable a node.

Which is it?

Sorry if this feels nitpicky, but getting it wrong could suck for everyone playing.

As far as I know, it's B.

Thanks. And kudos to the authors for what seems to be the most clearly presented BI to date...only one question popped up through my whole read through.

And thank you for running the Slot-0!

Keith is correct - the intent is B.
