I've been doing LFR for a while now, and wonder how to "legally" get frozen whetstones?
So far, I haven't seen any story awards for the frozen variety. Did I miss something?
Also, if I have the Story Reward out of Core2-4 Lost on the Golden Way, if I want to use that to buy a frozen whetstone (meeting level requirements), how many can I buy? Just 1? 10? up to a DM?
Thanks!

After browsing the campaign guide, I would have to say it is unclear. Based on the text of the story award and campaign guide, as far as I can tell the answer would be 0 or 1 with 0 appearing to be the more appropriate answer. Spoiler:
Show
Personally, I would think that this story award would not allow the purchase of a consumable mainly due to the campaign guide specifying the following:
(Pg 13 of V2.5) Uncommon consumable items aren't available for purchase without campaign documentation, so they are still difficult to acquire.
I suppose someone could consider this story award to be considered campaign documentation for purchase of a single consumable but since the campaign docs seem to strongly differentiate between consumables and permanent magic items, there are story awards that give out purchase access to various kinds of consumables, as well as the fact that one bundle usually offered is a consumable, I would have to say that using it for 1 consumable seems like a stretch to me.

Only one that I can think of comes from WATE 2-4: Stage Misdirection Spoiler:
Show
WATE28 Ars Gratia Artis
You earned the gratitude of various wealthy, influential patrons of the arts in the City of Splendors. These nobles will vouch for you as trustworthy and may assist you in obtaining employment or invitations to social events. Your powerful friends have many connections.
Circle one type of consumable from the following list: alchemical, ammunition, potion, reagent, or whetsone.
Once per adventure when you are in Waterdeep, you may draw upon your contacts to purchase up to five Uncommon consumables of your chosen type. (This could be five copies of the same item, one copy of five different items, or any other combination.) The item you buy must come from a player resource and must have an item level no greater than your character level (at the time of the purchase). You pay full market price. Consumable items do not count toward the limit of Uncommon magic items you are allowed to possess.
This Story Award counts as one of the two favors needed to join The Heirs of Mirt, a Waterdhavian adventurers’ society.

Thanks Durgine. Sadly, the character I want it for is already in Paragon. No stage misdirection for him Maybe something else will show up soon in paragon.

Another question... Hijacking my thread.
LFR guidlines say (paraphrased) you can't have a +1 Flaming Dagger and a +2 Flaming Rapier as magic items. You only get one "Flaming" weapon. Correct?
How does that work with Sybers Shard of Cold (heroic and paragon). Am I allowed to have both. aka Twin striking ranger with frost cheese.
Thanks

Exactly the same way.
You cannot have more than one copy of the same Uncommon (or Rare) item, regardless of level. (So you also can't have a +2 Flaming and a +3 Flaming weapon, even though one is heroic and the other is paragon.)

While I am sure failing to enable twin strike frost cheese through shards was uninted I nevertheless applaud the effect.

You can get a double weapon. That neatly solves the shard/1 uncommon item problem at the cost of a feat.
