While I wouldn't be surprised to see a return to Greyhawk when the next edition launches, there's a mean-spirited part of me (oddly enough, the part that also control my DM actions and responses) that would just love to see Dark Sun.
Just sayin'.

It kinda seems to me like the toolkitting aspect that DnDNext seems to be emphasizing would almost demand multiple OP campaigns so that they can use different subsets of the rules. Though it's not clear how realistic that is in terms of number of volunteers, DMs, and players available. Spoiler:

Okay, I admit, it's actually clear that's not plausible unless there's a major resurgeance first.

Let's see the old cosmology come back, and then we can look into a new Living City campaign. Living Sigil. (And that way, you can justify warforged AND genasi.)
Failing that, maybe we can at least ditch this "shadowfell" garbage, and have a proper Living (Un-living?) Ravenloft campaign. Because there are tons of long-reaching quests and plot threads (through all the teirs) when you're an immortal dark lord with nothing but time to scheme over thwarting your neighbor.
But that's just me pulling for a couple of my favorite settings.
As a DM, I find it easier to just punish the players no matter what they pick, as I assume they will pick stuff that is broken. I mean, fight after fight they kill all the monsters without getting killed themselves! What sort of a game is this, anyway?

While I don't see the room in the setting for a sustained Living Campaign in Ravenloft, I would *love* to see a four part mini-campaign or something (like the Undermountain campaign at Origins and GenCon the year 4e was announced).

Well, you could actually write and run a Ravenloft adventure in LFR - the mist take you away, you get to fight the darklord, you return again. I recall there was a Ravenloft advemture in Living City once.

ALL HAIL BUTTERSCOTCH!
I know that I will be pushing to have Butterscotch, the god of the sun, healing and hard candies, to be made the progenitor diety from which Pelor, Lathander, and Amanutor are derived from. He makes you feel warm inside!

Cool story Greg. Thanks for sharing. If Butterscotch makes it to the list of diety in D&DNext, we will know where the feedback came from !
