For those of you who are interested in discussing the design and implementation of Living campaigns, I point you here: www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discus...Of course, I'm sure no one here has a strong opinion on Living campaigns . . .

Opinions yes... time is another thing. Wasn't there some kind of big convention in a week or three?

Interesting topic.
I'd love to see Living Campaigns see more influence and be more affected by results of majority of tables and give a feeling the world shapes around the participant's actions and live and breath with them. I guess this would require a lot of work from administrators and that most are not even renumerated for doing it right now at the moment so my suggestion if i am allowed to would be:
For WoTC to hire a Living Campaign Manager, surrounded by a small Team of Living Campaign directors who would be full time employees dedicated to the administration, promotion and execution of this Living Campaign and that would handle reports and evolve in a more structured and sanctioned way so that accomplishments are reflected in future sessions as the campaign evolve. Like a sort of interactive campaign. That would be awesome !

Do you have evidence to suggest that the campaign is not influenced and affected the the results of the majority of the tables and shaped around the participants' actions (apart, of course, from the relative lack of submitted results outside of major conventions)?

That was more or less what year 1 was. Other than the extremely slow release of materials and some lawful stupidness entering the game, year 3 has been much better. If you play specs and battle interactives at DDXP, you also get that feeling.

I never said that Living Campaigns are not influenced and affected the the results of the majority of the tables so why would i need evidence to back up something i haven't said ?
Please reread my post i said I would like to see more of it.
Also, to suggest WotC should hire people is not to throw a blame at the existing LFR staff i should mention, i like LFR a lot. But a full blown interactive living campaign administed by people paid full time to run it would have more impact on the project that what we actually have, as much as i enjoy the work of the multitude of volunteers that have contributed to make LFR what it is up to this day.

That must have influenced my opinion then as i discovered LFR only last year and rushed to run many Year 1's before they retire and haven't run or played a lot of Year 2 or 3 stuff yet and nor i have ever played Battle Interactives.
So i am not in the best position to offer critisims on LFR in general, but i thought i could give an opinion on what i'd like to see more accomplished with living campaign in general after having read the discussion linked by Shawn. Sorry if my original comment came off as something else.

Sorry, I did miss the word "more" in your post. Could you provide an example of what you think "more" would look like (preferably with a specific example of where LFR failed in this area and could use improvement)? I'm not trying to be contrary, but specific feedback is always more helpful than general feedback.

The idea of WoTC being highly involved sounds better than it worked out. The problem is that year one had delays from very poorly paid contributers, Globals, and several people at WoTC having to approve of everything. It made for a cumbersome and slow campaign.
WoTC letting go of the oversight cut a layer of beaurocracy and has given creative freedom to the volunteer teams. However, things haven't sped up as much as I was expecting since WoTC left unfortunately.
