How is Gencon going? (Or, if you're reading this after the con, how did it go?) Any interesting/exciting news? How are the LFR adventures? I hope everyone is having fun! ~ Lorika, living vicariously though those of you who are gaming instead of working

Played the three Calimshan adventures yesterday...pretty enjoyable, fun storyline, quite challenging at AL 6 (we had some questions as to how well certain opponents were scaled -- in some encounters, it felt like we were fighting AL 10 monsters which had been "depowered" to fit Level 6, but not completely so, and were possibly overpowered for the challenge level).
I just spent the morning browsing the exhibit hall. If there have been big announcements here, I've missed 'em (but then, I tend to not pay too much attention sometimes).
The crowd is big. I've heard stories about multiple-hour waits to buy / pick up badges and tickets (even at Will Call, which illustrates the wisdom of having GenCon mail your badge and tickets to you).
OTOH, the new section of the convention center (where the old RCA Dome football stadium was) is now open, and that's where the exhibit hall now is. Between that, and the new Marriott hotels to the west, there's a lot more room, and I think things don't feel quite so crowded.

I have... a really bad post office... and am not that great with mail naturally, so I switched to Will Call for Gen Con several years back, and have never regretted it. Always fast. I'll be sad if they change that, because... Well, at one point I had a rate of losing 2/6 of the mails that one of my relatives sent me. Maybe it's better now, but at 33% failure rate I stopped relying on mail

I'd be interested in hearing specific feedback on the Calimshan adventures (in their respective threads). When you have time, of course. Which adventures/encounters did it feel like the AL6 monsters weren't adjusted well? As a new author I'm very interested in constructive feedback (positive or negative).

I've heard that every open seat for 4E games(most of which are LFR) has been filled leaving none remaining.

Oooh, I hadn't realized you were co-author on 3-3. :D I think that was my favorite of the lot. The issue I noted with some of the monsters was mostly in 3-1 and 3-2; the fights in 3-3 were challenging, but never left us feeling that we were out of our league.

From what limited views I've had, that's been mostly true. In playing the CALI adventures yesterday, every single assigned DM ran a table, though, at two of our three tables, we only had five players.
An issue which we were running into in mustering was that: a) We had lots of groups of four or five players who wanted to play together, making mustering tables of 6 a little challenging. Normally, that wouldn't be so bad (just find a group that is willing to break up to make tables happen), but... b) We also had a very wide range of desired ALs. When you have a group of 4 who want to play at AL 10, a group of 5 who want to play at AL 6, and a group of 4 who want to play at AL 2, it's more challenging to re-group players. This is especially true in a situation like this one, where you're playing a 3-part series, and there are story (and reward) reasons why a player will want to stick with the same character throughout the series.

Were most people doing like you did and playing the whole series in one day? Did tables get mustered for 3-1 and then just stay mustered into those tables for all 3 adventures?

For CALI3-2 AL6, the highest base-creature level (before scaling) is AL8.
