The thing I can't stand is when people who want options for the optimization value they provide throw things like 'Stormwind Fallacy' and such around, trying to make people believe that they're in it for the flavor and fluff. Since you're not interacting with a real argument in this case, you don't have any real counter-arguments and thus don't actually get anywhere by having that conversation.
Would that make them guilty of the Stormwind Fallacy Fallacy?

As the webpage at www.livingforgottenrealms.com/ says, they are both in effect. As is the meta-org draft
To DME, or not to DME: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous powergaming, Or to take arms against a sea of Munchkins, And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;No more;

By my reading, v2.5 is still in DRAFT status, which means even though it may be the governing document, it's still being worked on. And there is no word on the errata document.

No. According to Skerrit, meta-orgs are not in effect.

True... 4 monthes ago they were not in effect, but if you look at the post logopolis linked, I also say the start date was June 1st of this year. The final version of the MOG is not out, but they are playable now.

....?
When did this change? Your response that meta-orgs were not in effect was posted on June 13th, well past the June 1st date listed in the document.
Or did I misunderstand your original response?

I think it was part of the draft ccg and themes going live at gencon. I certainly jumped to the conclusion that they were legal at that point but having gone back to the start of this thread it wasn't explicitly spelled out as being the case. As there has been no update on the draft status I have not been encouraging any players to join metas until they get a proper version of the rules in place

The meta-org rules have the following note on the main web site.
Note: The next version of the meta-org guide will be available in early September 2011. The draft rules from May are usable in the campaign until the next version is released.
I would like to see a final form document, but this will have to do.
