Greetings...
This thread is for discussion of the DRAFT LFR Meta-Organization Guidelines, available for download now from www.livingforgottenrealms.com (check the top of the page under the "Just Announced!" headline; I'll also add this to the Campaign Rules section once we have a final version).
Note that the draft posits an effective date of 01 June 2011; I do not believe that is realistic as we need to synch the final version of this document with the final version of the June update to the LFR Campaign Guide. So don't get hung up on that date. Nevertheless, we do need your comments and suggestions in a timely fashion as it is our desire to have this ready to go for Origins.
Thanks!
Talk to you later --

My first quick glance question: no meta-org for Cormyr? I'd vaguely like to see House Jalt and the Crafty Kobold Trading Company get meta-orgs, but I can't claim those are as important as Cormyr. Given the number of Cormyr mods that shape and define a PC's relationship with Cormyr, it seems like it'd be a good candidate. Something pro forma for House Jalt would be nice as payoff for the story awards concerning it. Oh, and while I'm dreaming (I know), Arrowpoint Faculty would be a cool metaorg. But that's just me being greedy.

The draft looks great Sean! The Dusk Talons fit the entire anti-hero kind of lifestyle. The, we try to kill you if you leave makes things just a bit more tasty. Should be interesting to see how it works out.

One thing however, it seems as if I have heard of some of these meta-orgs as previous adventuring companies. Does the strength of a Adco, have anything to do with pormoting into a offical meta org? Just wondering.

The meta-orgs were designed to address the current story areas as well as heavily used Core story areas like Myth Drannor. Unfortunately, this means that many of the old story areas, which were not involved in old Core adventures and don't have new regional adventures, do not get any love (although some do; for example, favors in Luruar adventures help you join the Harpers). If you adventure in Cormyr, I would encourage you to consider the Harpers; while it is not directly involved in this year's major quest, it does fall into the "fight against Netheril" theme and may show up in future quests.

There's a major story award in Cormyr which requires you to give up other allegiances, which would clearly include most if not all potential metaorgs. My good-aligned characters would be fairly leery of declaring primary allegiance to King Foril at the levels we're talking while staying part of a secret society, no matter how do-gooder that society was, for example. Given that the story award in question is the logical conclusion of literally two tiers worth of play, I think it's worth the effort to make it relevant for the metaorgs.

If we're talking about the same story award (which I'm pretty sure we are), the story award would preclude you from some meta-organizations (in particular the Knights of Myth Drannor), but not others (for example, I see no conflict between that story award and the Harpers unless Cormyr suddenly decides to stop being in a state of cold war with Netheril). That story award seems to refer to national allegiances, not all organizational ones (I get that impression from the second paragraph of the story award).

My preference would be to see only meta-orgs with some connection to ongoing storylines, since otherwise the "one meta-org per PC" rule means that a player would have to choose between a meta-org that ties into the modules he's played in the past or one that ties into the modules he's going to play in the future.
Aside from meta-orgs which tie into the Year 3 story areas, we have the Gentle Fellowship, the Knights of Myth Drannor and Knights of the Golden Rooster. The first two are easy enough for future adventures to tie into, but I'm curious as to whether the addition of the latter means that we're going to see future adventures set in or connected to Ravens Bluff.

Looks generally very good. Some questions. Dusk Talons: Does the freedom from imprisonment happen immediately?
Knights of the Golden Rooster: When gaining a +1 to attack when spending an action point, does that just apply to the action point? Should have a time constraint to be clear.
Knights of Myth Drannor: Isn't Evermeet is also an Eladrin Kingdom(if somewhat non-existant) - this specifically comes up with one of my characters who is an Evermeet Warlock who is also a Knight of Myth Drannor. Also, there's a misspelling of Elves in 'non-drow eleves'
The Order of Torm: How would a PC have more than a single deity?
