Greetings...

Blog post here: community.wizards.com/lfr/blog/2011/04/0...

After some discussion with the Organized Play staff at Wizards, we've decided that it makes more sense to distribute public-play adventures directly instead of asking people to go through the RPGA/WPN ordering system. We don't want to make people jump through the hoop of sanctioning a WPN event just to get an LFR battle interactive or other special event, because it just creates another different place where people have to look in order to get their hands on LFR adventures.

However, we don't want to give up our ability to track conventions, game days, retail store games, and other public events that are running these special adventures, and we also don't want to give up the opportunity to build relationships between the campaign staff and the event organizers who are making these public LFR events happen. We don't want to make these adventures hard to obtain, but we also want to do more than just put them on the site for download the way we do with all the other adventures (that aren't restricted to public events only).

So we've settled on creating a new online LFR Public-Play Adventure Request form, which is available right now. When you want to run any of the LFR adventures that are limited to public events only (which currently means ADCP1-1 Jungle Hunt, ADCP2-1 The Paladins' Plague, ADCP2-2 Heart of the Desert, and/or ADCP3-1 Swarm of Chaos) just fill out the form with your contact information and some basic information about your event. A member of the campaign staff will review the information you provide, and will then contact you via e-mail with the adventures you've requested (and hopefully that will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, as we hope you will continue to organize more public LFR events in the future).

You can find the request form here:

www.surveymonkey.com/s/LFRAdventureReque...

We hope that event organizers will find this new process easier and more consistent, and that you will value the direct contact with the campaign staff (as we will value the direct contact with you). Of course, we reserve the right to make changes as we see how well this works (or doesn't work), and we would love to hear your feedback on the form itself (are we asking for the right information? too much? too little?) and/or the new process in general, which is the purpose of this thread.

To be clear, this announcement means that you can use the form RIGHT NOW to request any or all of ADCP1-1, ADCP2-1, ADCP2-2, and ADCP3-1 from the campaign staff.

Note that the LFR Campaign Guide currently states that public-play adventures are available through the WPN ordering system; this text will be revised with a description of the process and a link to the new form in the next update.  (We are contemplating doing an April update rather than waiting until June, to fix this information and clarify a few other things.)

Thanks very much and we look forward to hearing from you!

Talk to you later --

I am having some difficulty to entice my local game store to run
the older battle interactives, e.g. Jungle Hunt/Paladins' Plague.

Everyone seems to schedule all the newer adventures instead.

I am wondering if it is possible eventually to release all these
adventures for private play, so we get a chance to play them.

Is this something that the globals might be able to do later?

It is very unlikely we will do so, especially in regards to Battle Interactives. Those just do not run as intended at home games.

Well, if we ever get eCon running, that might work for those with travel limitations.

Just a sanity check post here -- as of 22 April 2011 I have responded to all the requests that have come in through the Public-Play Request Form for ADCP adventures.

If you have made a request for an ADCP adventure using the form (on or before 22 April 2011 at about 8:30 PM GMT) and you have not received a response from me, please send me an e-mail or PM (don't post in this thread as it will just clutter the thread) so that I can (1) get you the files you need and (2) figure out why your request didn't show up in my request queue.

The response so far has been very strong, with public events all over the world requesting one or more of the ADCP adventures.  Thanks to all for your support of Living Forgotten Realms!

I have added ADCP3-2 "From Dawn Till Dusk" as an orderable adventure to the online public-play request form.  (The adventure won't be available until July 15th, but you are welcome to start requesting it now -- and in general, it's best to give us at least a two-week lead time, because we don't look at the incoming requests every single day.)

Hello
Just got on and just started a group at a store two months ago where we are playing a weekly Sunday afternoon Living Forgotten Realm game.  I signed up with the store owner but I am confused to what to do next.  I need to get the guys RPGA/DDI Numbers but I am not sure how to do that and how to input game data.  It is really confusing.  I am not sure what sure I need to do as a DM.  I just want the guys to have fun and be able to play these characters in other places if they wish.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with additional information if I forget something or get something wrong...

Your #1 resource is livingforgottenrealms.com. There you can download all of the new LFR adventures (there's a link to a zip file to the right of each adventure). There's also a way to download all of the old adventures, but I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet. (Although the newer adventures are generally better, so I'd recommend playing new stuff when possible.) Be sure to read the LFR Campaign Guide on the livingforgottenrealms.com website to know all the rules for character generation and magic items and leveling up and such. That can answer a lot of your questions.

There used to be official online reporting of each game, but I don't think you need to do that anymore. (I'm not even sure if players need RPGA/DCI numbers anymore, but I could be wrong.) On the livingforgottenrealms.com website, there is a link next to each adventure that says "Report Your Results." It's a brief survey asking a few questions about key outcomes of the adventure (for example, did a certain NPC live or die). You're not required to fill out the survey, but the survey answers shape the future storyline of LFR. For example, if 95% of tables who fill out the survey say that a certain NPC died during the adventure, the official storyline moving forward is that that NPC is dead. Surveys expire after a few months and you only fill out one per table. Players keep track of their own character advancement (XP, gold, and items) on their adventure log (an example one is on livingforgottenrealms.com).

All you really need to know as a DM is where to download the LFR adventures (livingforgottenrealms.com). There is boilerplate text at the front of every adventure that gives general rules about DMing for LFR that you should read. The players should know the rules for character creation (LFR Campaign Guide, found on livingforgottenrealms.com).

The people around here have played a lot, so we can answer any specific questions you might have. This community page is also a good general resource. The LFR global administrators (the guys in charge of the campaign) post blog posts on this site with updates and important information about LFR.

As lorika noted, reporting of LFR play seems to have largely, if not entirely, gone away.  From what I can tell (and the staff should correct me if I'm mistaken), they're primarily using the traffic and download stats from livingforgottenrealms.com to monitor (indirectly) play levels.

So, in short -- you shouldn't need to worry about collecting DCI numbers or reporting who played what.  As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to do that any longer.
