    Coming Home

    Some things never change.

While not a tournament Magic player by any stripe, I've been an avid player, collector, and deckbuilder since shuffling my first deck at Airborne school in 1994.  While my interest in Magic waxes and wanes and waxes again, I always find myself coming back to the forums for a quick reimmersion in a delightfully dense game.

Recently, my interest is back due to playing a few games with students at my school just prior to our spring break. Accordingly, over break, I dug out the old cards and old decks, built a few new decks, tinkered with some old favorites, and came back to the forums.

Aside from the cosmetic and functional changes since last I was here (during Gleemax times, for those keeping score), the biggest change is the drastic drop in traffic inside my regular haunts of the casual and multiplayer forums.

I saw a few screennames I recognized, but more amusedly I saw the same trends and discussions, intermixed among talk of the latest released set.

People are still discussing the best cards to run with Underworld Dreams , whether or not Megrim is a worthwhile card (paired with Dreams or on its own), and saproling decks.  The names have changed, but the comments made are still the same.

More importantly, the few who seem to be the current regular participants of those forums are knowledgeable, polite, and willing to learn - the desired mix for a forum of this nature.

While I cannot predict how long my stay will be this time, I can say that it is good to be home.
