I'm a guy. I like pretty women. But all these bikini-clad or bare-midriff adventurers are ridiculous. It makes NO SENSE. It breaks immersion. And it makes it that much harder for many girls or young women to find D&D approachable.
Also, as a guy who likes playing funny characters, I think the occasional funny-looking guy or gal is perfectly appropriate. D&D is about adventure, but there should be room for other elements, and one of those is humor.
Don't make D&D so...

can you do one about what to do when the players start fooling around or do things like trying to kill(or in one of my players case sexually harras) some innocent NPC.

my players are insane. the paladin in the group is wanted in seven diffrent villages and rutinly kills random npcs(the only skills he uses and trains in are stealth bluff and thievery), the only thing that the cleric has ever healed is his pet rock, the deva avengers solution to everything is to run around naked. for heavens sake when the only charachter in the group you can trust is a drow assasin than you know that your carfuly constructed campain is doomed.

Gotta disagree with the "no need to keep going". Drog should always have the last line. He's funny by NOT being very funny. Enjoyed this one thoroughly.

Love your strip! I also love your mix of traditional/old school D&D characters with more recent types. Sure you've heard that before!
The level of text vs. pics is appropriate and I like how you vary it up. Do what you do and make some well-deserved money.

Completely agree here. There is a balance that should be maintained within rules. It has been repeated multiple times in this thread and in threads from L&Ls in the past.
It would be nice to have a combination of these options, such as one set ( a basic set) presented in the PHB and then the optional modifiers in the DMG.
The basic rule sets will set the stage for the covenant between the DM and the players, while the optional rules would allow each DM to custom fit the world/game...

Rake: It's a column about how life and DnD interact with and effect one another, through the lense of the writer's personal experiences.
This isn't a print magazine. It is silly to assume that "page space" being used by this article would be used by something else if Shelly quit doing the column. A website like the official site for DnD doesn't have such limited real estate that they couldn't put something else up (this column was running before dragon content started to drop) alongside...

Congratulations Shelly! Don't worry, my wife and I also turned out honeymoon in Quebec City into a D&D adventure. She bought her first (and only) weapon (a mordenkrad) at one of the medieval equipment stores in the city. For the rest of the trip I wasn't sure if I had maried her, or Simone Wolfgunk, her Eladrin Avenger.

About Me

About Me: Dungeon Master new to 4th Edition. Having a lot of fun with it. Screenwriter and VFX Designer by trade, game designer by interest. Currently inspired to write, test, and publish D&D adventures and modules.

Movies: Big sci-fi and horror fan.

Books, Comics and Graphic Novels: Used to read a lot of manga in high school. Big non-fiction fan, biology-buff, and comedy lover. Just getting into the old Weiss and Hickman books.

Dislikes: Slayer/Power Gamers (Though I'll run an adventure and encounter to impress). Rule Mongers belittling new gamers (you were new players at one point to, you know!)
