I disapprove of their 'cooler' nightripper name, though. Their inherent absurdity is surely the greatest part of the creatures' charm. Artist Les Morrill's depiction of them as a four-footed predator is pretty sweet, though.
The adventures in the books take place on planet Oerth as well...
