"Evel, let's be extra careful here: it's too quiet... For being a countryside town."
The woman only fired a caustic glare back, and pushed the door of the large and cozy Geistschmith Inq. cart, with the same hand that had already opened it and had paused the movement, to prevent the fat wizard's bawling voice from reaching too far outside.
After silently dropping to the ground like a cat, she waited for the man to divert his attention by slowly closing the door and then slammed it suddenly. The cart moved more because of the startled man's agitation than for the slammed door.
"Damnation, what's into her? Do female vampires retain their period or what? Angels be grounded... She gets scarier by each moon..." - Hruthger whispered to himself.

He then looked at the roasted deer pastiche, still warm in the casserole that the spouse of the butcher had given him in return for a ritual of protection performed in their house. The husband, she said, would have beaten her for being so superstitious, he didn't want to hear anything about possessions, wichtels, geists, or other monsters. "This lack of superstition and even blindness to normal esoteric phenomena is going to make our life difficult here. I wonder if it's a good thing to stay for longer. At least now we have earned this pastiche, maybe we could call it quits..." - He paused his ramblings and fixed his stare on the meat bounty: his eyes got bigger like those of a child looking at a toy, and he started the feast, eating with his bare hands.
I wonder if Darius is doing alright alone in the woods though...

Being a monster slayer of both heritage and vocation, Darius couldn't have any serious problem alone in a werewolf-less and relatively tame forest such as that local Kleinwald. The record shown to him by the phlegmatic mayor of Leithbruck, sir Blasiuld Lanzel, was very clear about this: no werewolf sighting in the latest  six years, and no actual raid for five times that time.
Darius extracted the silver-lined projectile from the dead wolf. Jonas, the farmer of the western ward would have been glad to pay some coin for its skin. But why using a silver bolt for such a common beast? Well, first of all, it didn't seem very normal to see such a lonely wolf not intimidated by his presence, attacking without hesitation. And then something simply didn't feel right about it. It was nearly scary. He had a sixth sense for monsters, and it tingled a bit too much on this lonely black wolf. Especially since from the looks of it, it didn't act like a lone wolf. It acted more like if it had a pack, such was its determination. And still no pack was even heard by the experienced Darius.

More investigation was needed: why didn't the hunters back at the Grapfrit Inn warn him of a pack dwelling in the Kleinwald? That is, unless his sixth sense was being a bit out of whack, and this was just some crazy lone animal.
Sunset is near, time to go back to town.

The young and lonely Leaf was sitting in front of the pint of ale, barely touching it at all. The idea of getting drunk striked him as something dangerously too similar to transforming.
The Grapfrit Inn surely was a pleasent tavern. Two different taverns actually, with the guest rooms articulated over multiple buildings and floors too. Leaf had chosen the tavern with less poeple in it, and still there were more than a dozen men and some women too. Laughter was common, even if everybody looked quite sober yet.

The men nearest to him were two tall and evidently strong men, sharing a table. His keen ears were able to listen to their talk despite the distance.
- "Sir Klaudred did well! Why the heck should have we continued our duty if nothing bad ever happens here?"
- "Well, I feel a bit useless these last years. Helping at my cousin's farm is a good job, but it's not what I was meant to do. Maybe I should go to Gavony and apply for Cathar training..."
- "Now that Avacyn is gone? Good luck Addler! HAHAH! You don't understand, Cathars are not going to protect the places destined to ruin. And Leithbruck is not one of them, we're safe here. And as my grandfather always said: if you want to live a hundred years, drink a cup of firewater every morning, and always mind your own business."
- "Hehehhe I guess your grandad was right... After all life is good here."
Leaf started remembering of his own village. Were these man right about places destined to ruin? Was his vllage one of these places and he the agent of ruin? What about all the places that had to deal with devils and worse? Thinking about it, it didn't make a lot of sense what the men were saying. Their talk was too short too, that Addler was a bit too easily convinced... Or not? He couldn't yet understand much of the world of men. He was a country boy, knowing more of herbs than people until he joined the Geistshmith Inq just two weaks ago. And of course he hadn't learned a lot during this time either, although it felt like a long time.
This town for some reason seemed interesting to him. Was all this calm and tranquility an opportunity for him to learn something? Maybe he should have talked a bit to Meister Friardel the famous inn-keeper, to learn something more of Leithbruck... But he was such a busy person, always doing many things and talking to many people at once: was a country boy like him able to get his attention for a bit?

LEAF

The large and a bit extruded dark eyes of Meister Friardel were quick to notice the gesture of the young man.
He walked quickly to the side of the bar nearest t his table, while drying a mug with a cloth.
"Good evening, stranger! You seem new around here, and if you seem so to me, then you are!"
Before Leaf had time to answer, the meister raised his index finger to him while turning his head to a man who voiced a request from the back.
The busy inn keeper walked away, keeping his hand in Leaf's direction for a bit, as if asking for some time.
Laughter and words in the dialect of the Gavony border-lands could be heard from where Friardel had gone serve the clients.
Maybe something else was needed to catch the attention of the meister, or maybe the drinking folk could be joined by Leaf...

[OOC] If you want to try some check, feel free to use dice.brainclouds.net for your die rolls: registration doesn't require confirmation from email, and the numbers are really random, much more reliable than invisiblecastle.com although if someone prefers that website, it's ok to me, just always use an account, since guest rolls can't be tracked... Oh and for campaign name, just write Innistrad!
Also, for dialogues I'm using the burned orange and teal colors to represent different NPCs. I may use other colors if a dialogue involves more than two NPCs. I used Green for Leaf, but you're free to choose any other color, @Sahoni, as of now it's Dark Azure for Hruthger, Purple for Darius and Maroon for Evel.

Totally absort in his thoughts, Darius started to walk back to the town where he left his companions. He was wondering who Hruthger would be scamming, given the tranquility of the surroundings... No werewolves, not even wolves' packs in the forest (if one could call that big garden a forest) and little noise by night. There was something odd with this town, but he couldn't perceive it at all.

He looked at the moon, and calculated quickly how many days they have left before a full moon. Only then he could be for sure this town was safe enough to persist without help.

[[OOC: So... how many days?]]

He entered into the creepy inn (actually it wasn't creepy, but its hominess and lack of drunken guys were unnatural to him) without paying attention really, and ordered something to eat. No meat on the night, just something light and something to drink and get nice dreams without losing attention.

Where was Hruthger? He shouldn't be outdoors this late.

Darius couldn't remember if they had agreed to meeting at the inn or in another place, but tried his best to remember...

DARIUS

Before entering the inn, Darius watched the moon and understood that it was roughly five days to full moon, give or take one.

Only after having ordered a typical Leithbruck's cabbage soup, he noticed that the barmaids were busier going in and out of a corridor leading apparently to a separate tavern. Maybe the inn-keeper was there, and Hruthger with him. After all, he didn't specify were they would meet, and when Hruthger doesn't specify, "food" is to take for granted as his intention!

[OOC] Where is Darius living the dead wolf's body? Or he didn't bring it?

Grabbing his leather bag and leaving the bowl half-full (he never liked cabbage, and this tavern's cook talents for cooking it weren't near acceptable anyway) Darius stood up and walked following the maids to the other dining he remembered was next to this one. Maybe Hruthger would be there, eating as usual.

He had just entered when he noticed Leaf sitting on the bar, with a very perplexing look. Well, perplexing for Darius, at least, which was more accustomed to deduce stuff on monsters' expressions than in humanoids'. In this case, both natures confused him. He looked... sad? Maybe just troubled for the few days until the next full moon? At least he already have some of the "components" for the tranquilizing potion. Darius wasn't sure they would be able to find sometime the formula for the Wolfbane potion, and this weaker version would eventually grow weaker and weaker on Leaf's blood as he consumed it every month.

"Hey, 'Fangs'" Darius said when reaching Leaf, low, so no one around could hear him. "Have you seen 'Fat' around here? I got the fur, the eyes, the nails, the teeth... the liver and heart are somewhat damaged, but I did my best. I hope he was able to trade those goldies into silveries. We'll need plenty and they're not precisely abundant around here."

Now you know what's on the leather bag

HRUTHGER

Precisely when the two were meeting again, after an evening of solitude that "Fangs" was at least mildly enjoying, a sounds of fatigued hooves stopping by the road introduced "Fat", who then walked the Grapfrit Inn door in front of his two companions.
He motioned to the diners, saluting just about everybody personally, putting on the same act as always, for the good of Geistschmith Inq's reputation and appreciation.

Spoiler: Show

Despite Hruthger being visibly clumsy as if he were tipsy already, the responses weren't as cold as Leaf and Darius would have expected in such a place. People saluted back and some even asked some courtesy questions or even slightly hinted at empty seats among them. Timid invites to the stranger that meant quite a bit, in such a closely-knit community.
Hruthger's usual comity and pleasantries made for an appropriate, if a bit comic response, and in the mean time he managed to reach Darius and Leaf without bumping into too many seats and tables with his "lordly figure", as he loved to define it.
"Lads... The butcher's spouse gave me this, it's not much but I thought you would have liked it more than me, so I left nearly everything to you and your guts." - He didn't sound ironic, but Darius knew well he was: the casserole was more than half empty, and it surely wasn't because of the butcher's scarce availability of meat.
"What is it?" "Deer pastiche. I seasoned it with berries, raisin and a bit of powdered walnuts, making for a gourmet delicacy. So don't say I don't love you. And don't be miser, share it equally!"

After that food parentheses, the three started talking a bit of the present situation. The Leithbruck's situation.
"Fine, so we'll meet with the farmer Jonas in the western "ward", if they can call it like that, and we'll sell the wolf's skin. His wife told me that wolves are becoming a bigger problem lately. About the potion, well... We all know Leaf can't go on with that for much longer. I think there could be more side effects to the ones we're beginning to see already. We need to find the formula of the Wolfbane." - He stared at them for a long time with his round eyes, in turns. Then he croaked his strange signature "social caugh-laugh" to catch a bit of attention, and he called for meister Friardel.
"Good evening again, here I am..." - He dared to say looking at Leaf, as if saying he was now there with them because of his previous request.
"Good evening good Meister! I have a question I'd prefer to ask you with a little discretion..." - He gestured suggesting a closer talking distance, with meister Friardel quickly complying to the request.
"We need some arcane supplies to start our work here in the nearby region. There's talk of wolves getting rabid, and we happen to know some solutions but we need to seek out for someone knowledgeable in herbalism and eldritch crafts..." - Meister Friardel backed his head a bit, reflexively, as if startled - "... *err* with the bless of Avacyn of course, angels forbid..! Do you know who could we look out for such matters?"
"Hmmmm... Well... If you meant the Avacyn blessing part, I suggest you go see Brother Malekai, at the shrine of our Archangel. It's inside the garden graaf-" he signed himself with the Avacyn gesture - "- to the northern outskirts, where our dead rest an uninterrupted sleep." He looked prideful as if he was the mayor of Leithbruck himself. Having Darius met the true mayor, sir Blasiuld, he knew for sure that Friardel was indeed more responsible for anything good in Leithbruck than him.
"Many thanks meister Friardel, your help is highly appreciated. Also, we're deeply enjoying the hospitality here! Can we have a round of firewine?" - "Yes of course... Would you also like some roast deer chops with it?" - He said looking at the not at all hidden casserole and the two wooden spoons in it, resting on their table. "Hahah! Why yes of course!"

Hruthger repeated the long round-eyed stare at his fellows. No words were needed: it was easy to screw up the Leithbruck situation. "Somehow, I think it will be easier to talk to the priest. Could it be because of all the corrupt priest I knew in my three abundant decades..?" - They had a small contained laugh...

Three abundant decades? Hruthgar looked 30-something, but that waist was telling everyone around those 30 years were really abundant ones.

"You know, Hruthgar, some of us consider corrupt priests as dangerous monsters as werewolves are" and then , looking quickly around to Leaf, tried to make the statement less insultant: "Not that they're intrinsically evil, of course, you know what I mean and feel about the ones grabbing their humanity with faith and strength of will. Anyway, it's gonna be extremely hard for us to get the Wolfbane formula in less than five days, even harder to get it ready in such a short time. I have here the... " and looking to the food on the table, stopped on time "... the ingredients for our usual medicine, for this last time, if Gisela's willing" and turned his eyes upside in a faithful manner. Maybe he shouldn't bring the bag this close to the table, it was somewhat disgusting when thinking on its contents.

"We need to get 12 ounces of silver yet. Were you lucky getting them?"

"All the payment I got from my warding ritual was the deer you swallowed, I told ye... We'll probably get some silver from Jonas, for the wolf, but we also need more." - He then looked around smiling and then spoke more softly: "We should probably try and organize our game, here."
"Have you seen the Freak by the way? I thought she was going to come here..."
